Bears start golden season
This past week another sporting Clinton High School, Thursday,
season has got under way at SDHS. October 13 (1:30); Girls Basketball
The girls, basketball teams travelled - Goderich at Seaforth, Wednesday,
to Central Huron Secondary School October 12 (12:30). •
to play its first season game in the
Huron Conference. The midgets
tied thc game at 27, and played a
very good game. The juniors who
won all of Huron -Perth last year are
off to a fast start again this year
beating CHSS 48-23. The senior
girls snuck a win out as well,
winning 32-27. All the girls played
very well and were in time for
Exeter on Wednesday at home. The
midgets started the day off and
were a little shaky, losing 71-29,
but Exeter scored two points on
Scaforth's hoops to give everyone a
good smile. Starla Wick was the
second high scorer with 16 points.
The juniors for the second time in
three days were ready to dish out
some punishment. The girls won
45-20; high scorers for Seaforth
were Kara Murray - 15, Kim
Jamieson - 13; Crista Bennet - 10.
The seniors played an excellent first
half but ran into some tough
competition in the second half. The
girls ended up losing 41-38 on a 3 -
pointer by Exeter in the dying
seconds of the game. High scorers
for Seaforth were Lori Perrie - 17;
and Sarah Johnston - 9.
Congratulations to all thc girls.
The boys' volleyball teams
likewise had their first season
games. The seniors started the day
against Exeter on Thursday. This
was the first time the boys played
together and were up against some
of the stiffest competition in the
conference. The boys won one out
of three games and looks like it
could be a good season. The scores
of the games were as follow 9-15,
16-14, 7-15. The junior boys also
started the season off as well
against Exeter. What once looked
like a rebuilding team, for the
juniors might prove differently after
all. The boys ended up dropping -
two but pulled out the third game
with a strong finish.
The games were owa; 8.1;
7.15, 15-11. Good work, Golden
Bears!
Games for the upcoming week are
