KEEPING WARM - A baseball strike may have ended the major
league season but that didn't stop these two Slowpitch fans from
enjoying some ball on Saturday. Renee Thompson keeps score
during the Men's Slowpitch Tournament on the weekend while
Cindy McCall and her poodle Taffy try to keep warm on the
stands. They were watching Coops play the Wildcats.

Muffin Mania
BY CRISTA
VANDEN HOVEN
Healthy baking was one of the
skills learned at a recent 4-H
club meeting.
Seaforth 1 4-H members cel-
ebrated muffins at the second
'meeting held August 30 at 3
p.m. at Vanden Hovens'. Mem-
bers participated by measuring,
mixing and baking muffins from
scratch and mixes. Members
discussed some ingredient sub-
stitutions and were challenged to
try changing a recipe as part of
a home activity. Some substitu-
tions make for healthier baking.
After all these batches were
baked members judged the
appearance, texture and taste of
the three kinds of blueberry
muffins. Tasting the muffins
was definitely the best part of
this meeting.
