Seaforth works grants approved
Three projects worth $173,000
were recently approved for the town
of Seaforth under the
Canada/Ontario Infrastructure Work
Program.
Funding will be used for the
following projects:
• Resurfacing and painting of com-
munity tennis courts at high school.
• Upgrading of rear Main Street
alley.
• Construction of storm, sewer,
sanitary sewer, water services and
road construction of 950 feet west
of Isabella Street.
These three projects, which will
create an estimated 104 person -
weeks of employment, should be
completed by the end of September,
according to a recent news release.
"With the funding of these
Seaforth projects, the three levels of
government have cooperated to
enhance the basic infrastructure,
create jobs and make a difference in
the lives of Seaforth residents," said
Huron -Bruce MPP Paul Steckle.
Canada/Ontario Infrastructure
Works is a $2.1 billion shared -cost
program designed to create jobs
through local priority projects
which will improve the province's
•infrastructure and therefore its
competitive position, according to
the press release. Canada, Ontario
and local partners are each contrib-
uting one-third of the project fund-
ing.

municipal councils and staff, fire
departments, police departments,
ambulance -services and telephone
companies in Huron.

Bicycle Complaint
Seaforth Town Council recently
received a letter from an RR 4,
Seaforth resident complaining about
bicycle -riding on Main Street
sidewalks.
I'm very concerned that someone
is going to get hurt (mainly elderly)
due to the excessive fast bike -riding
on the west sidewalk," wrote Karen
Carruthers. Shp suggests children
walk their bikes on the sidewalks
and questions if there is a bylaw in
existence that prevents bicycle -
riding on sidewalks in town.
The matter was referred to the
Police Services Board.
