Mark Van Dieten, right, gets ready to make a shot. + Local girl injured in snowmobile accident BLYTH - An 11 -year-old Blyth girl was rushed to hospital on March 17 following a snowmobile accident at 10:30 a.m. Michelle Amie McNichol was riding with her older sister, Kan - dace Marie, 14, when the machine hit a bump causing }Candace to fall off the machine. The machine rolled on its side and Michelle became entangled in the machine. Blyth Firefighter Dave Lee, who attended the scene, said she was caught between the tracks and the tunnel (rear frame). He estimated it took firefighters between 15 minutes and half -an -hour to free her. "We had to cut the track and take the suspension out," he explained. McNichol was taken to Win- gham and District Hospital by ambulance. From there she was transported to Sick Children's Hospital in London by air am- bulance. At press time officials at Sick Children's Hospital listed her in fair condition. No charges are pending the accident. Tenders for Hullett gravel Tenders for maintenance gravel for Hullett Township are to be in by April, 5, 1994 at 4 p.m. The tenders are for 15,500 cubic yards of maintenance gravel for 1994. New Legion officers proposed At the Seaforth Legion general meeting last Thursday night a proposed slate of Officers was presented to the membership and these were nominated for office. These nominations can be opened again at the next meeting in April, and new names be added if anyone is nominated The slate is as follows: _Past President - Errol Skillender, President - John Lansink; 1st Vice President - Ted Montgomery; 2nd Vice President - Linda Gridzak; 3rd Vice President - open; Sgt -at -arms - Mel Melanson; Secretary - Thelma Coombs; Treasurer - Don Eaton; Executive Committee - Al Nicholson, Jean Ross, Jim Watson, Dave Watson, Mel Melanson, Charles Perkins; Auditor - John Longstaff. Donations were made to the fo'lowing: Seaforth Recreation Department for fireworks - $300; H.M.C.S. Haida Fund - $500; Easter Seal Campaign - $300; and Library heating system repaired The Seaforth Public Works Dept. has repaired the heating system at the Seaforth Public Library again. Work on the boiler has included a new expansion tank, as the old one was rusted out; a new pressure regulator and a new recirculation pump. The radiators have been vacuumed out and at this point seem to be working fine, according to Superintendent John Forrest's report to Seaforth Council's Transportation and Environment Committee. Hullett drainage tenders accepted Hulleu Township accepted a tender price of about $24,872 from A.G. Hayter Contracting Ltd. on the Longhurst Drainage Works Improvement and Exten- sion. Seaforth Legion by Barbara Scott ( $2,500 to the Legion Charitable Foundation, this to be presented at the District C. Convention in Stratford in April. Four new Associate Voting members were passed for Membership Raymond Brown, Clendon Coombs, William Fraizer and Jane Muir. Welcome to Branch 156. Hope to see you there soon. The Branch is planning a Sunday dinner for the public on April 10. The Branch was saddened to hear of the death of Comrade Bill Harris over the weekend.
