Have you thought about renting your dress?
The decision to buy or
rent a wedding dress depends on
two factors: the wish to keep a
souvenir and the available
budget.
Romantic women who
fear that in the future they might
regret a decision not to keep
their wedding dresses usually buy
them. It may always be possible
to sell them later if there is a
change of heart.
The cost of a purchase
will vary according to styles and
models. The style will often
depend on the formality of the

can perhaps allow the bride to
wear a dress that is more
attractive than one she might
have bought. When renting a
wedding dress, it is helpful to
remember that the current styles

The above dress, modelled by Shannon Kirk, was made for
Barbara Evelyn fisher, who married William James Hawkins in
Victoria Street United Church on Oct. 17, 1953. The gown has a
full net tiered skirt with an overlay of deep ruffled lace. The
bodice, of shirred net, is strapless. Worn over the gown is a
matching jacket with long fitted sleeves extending to a point at
the wrist. Her fingertip veil of tulle is held in place by a matching
lace cap. She carried a bouquet of red roses. Her maid of honor
wore a waltz -length gown of blue net over satin with matching
headdress. Her flowers were pink roses and chrysanthemums.
