Decide on a theme, and plan the shower around it
The bridal shower is a
favorite tradition that occurs
when a couple announce their
intention to wed. It is an
occasion to celebrate 7e
forthcoming nuptials and to
provide gifts to help the bride
and groom set up housekeeping.
It is also an important social
function so that friends and
family might gather in a Tess
formal setting than the actual
wedding.
The question remains
how can the shower be a
memorable event for all
concerned - especially the

AROUND THE CLOCK
SHOWER
The idea is to state in
your invitation that each guest
should bring a gift the couple
might use at a certain time of
day. Every invitation must
specify a different hour.
If you choose any of the
following hours, these
suggestions can be passed along
to guests who may call you for
ideas: 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. coffee
maker, subscription to a
morning newspaper or 5 p.m.
to 6 p.m. blender, casserole
dishes.
BAUBLES AND BOWS
SHOWER
Trim their first Christmas tree
with gifts of fancy bulbs and
other decorations. Handmade
and personalized are best, but
shiny, satin and new are also
very acceptable. Then if all
guests add a treasured ornament
from their own stockpile, it
should fill out the couple's first
Christmas tree rather nicely.
COLLECTIBLES SHOWER
If you know a couple
who suffer from acquisition
mania, indulge them with a
shower of their favorite things.
Any addition to their collection -
old magazines, coins, dolls and
so on - will be greatly
appreciated.
HERB AND SPICE
SHOWER
Ask everyone, by
written or casual invitation, to
bring a particular herb or spice.
Provide a decorated rack or
cabinet display at the shower. It
will make a compact carry -home
tote for the guest of honor, with
jars neatly nestled inside.
LEND -A -HAND SHOWER
Here is a shower that is
built around year-long help -for --
the couple. Guests give
,coupons. for services, good
anytime during the first year of
wedded life, instead of the usual
presents.

limited to the special talents and
