The Huron Expositor, 1994-02-23, Page 21Anne Louise Bodely and Robert James Guard were married at West Humber United Church,
Rexdale, on June 15, 1991. The bride's gown, modelled by Shannon Kirk, is white satin trimmed with
French lace and heavily embroidered with pearls and beads. The bodice features puffed long sleeves
tapering to a point at the wrist. The full train falls from a large bow at the back. The veil, of mufti -

Dealing with your star status
at your wedding shower
From the time you
announce your engagement to
the time you leave on your
honeymoon, you the bride-to-be
are the centre of attention.Here
are a few hints to help you deal
with being the star of a wedding
shower:
O If you are nervous
about the occasion confide in
your hostess for help. She wants
to make everything as lovely as
possible for you and will be
happy to assist.
O Spend a few
moments chatting with each
person who attends. Let them
know that you appreciate the
time, energy, and expense she
has exerted on your behalf.
O At gift -opening time
you'll have the stage to yourself.
If no spot has been prearranged,
find a place to sit down where
everyone will be able to see you.
As you open each gift
and hold it up for everyone to
see, say a few words. Your
remarks should be personal and
directed toward each giver.
Extend your thletks and perhaps
mention how the gift will be
used.
O Just take your time,
chooseyour words, and do your
best to 6r` owledge each gift
and give
O If you receive a
duplicate gift say your thanks
along with other appropriate
remarks, and then talk with the
giver later, in private to arrange
an exchange. Perhaps your
hostess will help you here.
O As soon as possible,
after the shower, write thank -
you notes. Mention in your note
the gift abd how it will be used
and offer your sincere thanks.
O Write a special note
to your hostess. Your thanks can
tell of the lovely time you had,
the effort and expense you know
the shower took, the useful gifts
you received, and the good start
you'll have now, because of this
special shower.
