SEAFORTH THWARTS MITCHELL MIDGETS - All eyes were on the puck last Tuesday night, as the
Mitchell Midgets hosted Seaforth in game 5 of their WOAA 'CC' best -of -five final series. Above, goalie
Adam Agar (left) and a defenceman scrambles for the loose puck while Mitchell players scramble about
as well. Seaforth won the contest 6-2 to win the championship and eliminate their rivals.
Midgets drop Mitchell in playoffs
timed a pass and beat the Mitchell
goalie. Just minutes later Jason
Murray put Seaforth in the lead and
Wayne Schoonderwoerd followed
up, putting Mitchell down by a pair.
Murray added a beauty late in the
period, embarrassing a Mitchell
defenceman by evading a
telegraphed bodycheck. Seaforth
headed to the dressing room after
two periods with a 4-1 lead and a
lot of momentum. Steve McInally
scored three minutes into the third
and Brad Moore added the sixth.
After dropping game four to
Mitchell in the WOAA futals, The
Seaforth Midgets stormed back and
took the final game placing
themselves in the OMHA quarter
finals.
On Tuesday, Feb. 15 the Midgets
made one more trip to the Mitchell
Arena, for game five of the WOAA
finals. A lot was at stake, with the
winner going on and the loser going
home. Early in the second period
Mitchell took the lead. Seaforth
stuck back when Jason Smith one-

Mitchell got one with nine
seconds left but the game was
already over. Stellar goaltending
from Adam Agar and a good all-
around effort by the players lead
Seaforth to a 6-2 victory.

Cents meet Exeter in playoffs
Offence vs. defence in tough match -up
The Seaforth Centenaires ended
their regular schedule according to
form, splitting their final two starts
with a 7-2 win over Belmont fol-
lowed by a 1-0 loss to Lambeth to
finish with an 18-18-4 record, the
fourth -best winning percentage in
the team's 20 year history.
But the Cents will now have to
play better than .500 hockey against
the tough and talented Exeter
Hawks to advance through the
opening round of the Ontario
Hockey Association Junior Devel-
opment League playoffs. That best -
of -seven Westem Division quarter
final opened last night (Tuesday) at
Exeter. Results weren't available at
press time. The series continues
with three games this weekend
including games at Seaforth Friday
night at 8:30 and Sunday afternoon
at 3. The Hawks host game three at
Exeter Saturday night at 8:30.
Games five through seven, if
necessary, are scheduled for the
next weekend.
The playoff is a confrontation of
the division's top offence versus
one of its best defences. Led by
league scoring champion Shayne
Robinson, Sean McCaan, Nate
Burns and Ray Cousincau the third-
place Hawks literally put bushels of
pucks in the net this season,
)although they only finished four
wins ahead of sixth-place Seaforth.
Oh the other hand, only the division
leaders and defending champion
OHA champion Mitchell Hawks
allowed fewer goals than the
Centenaires who are led by in -your -
face goaltender Dana Duskocy,
defencemen Karston Carroll and
Scott Wright, and gritty two-way
skaters who can wingit with any
team in the league. Ifhcad-to-head
games during the regular season are
any indication the good offence will

Lambeth was still gunning for
home ice advantage in their playoff
with Mt. Brydges and captain Glen
MacKinnon scored the only goal of
this tight tilt at Seaforth Friday
night. Ted Sills was in alone on a
breakaway twice in the opening
period and the Cents had other
ample scoring opportunities but
couldn't beat Lancer goaltender Jeff
Baldicchino. Jamie Redmond made
it a "goalie's duel", also sterling in
the Seaforth net. •
CENTS 7 - PESTS 2
Sills certainly had the touch at
Belmont Wednesday though, scor-
ing three times as Seaforth math-
ematically eliminated the Pests, who
came into the game riding back-to-
back wins over Alvinston and
Exeter, from post season play. Both
Jamie and Chad Ramer also cape
up big with three point nights Tor
the Centenaires - Jamie had two
goals and an assist and Chad vice
versa. Wright also tickled the twine
for Seaforth, who led 3-0 after the
first pefiod and 6-2 after two. Don
Scou and Andrew Scott both
chipped a couple of assists, with
singles credited to Paul McLlwain,
Dan Drivers, Steve Geiger and
Chris Gingerich. Duskocy was the
winning goaltender. Referee
Donaher called seven minor pen-
alties in the game, four to Belmont,

Mitchell downs Seaforth atoms
On Tuesday Feb. 15 in the fourth
game of the Mitchell-Seaforth Atom
series, Seaforth needed a win to
stay alive. They opened the scoring
with Curtis Murray netting a goal
on a set up by Tim McClure and
Kyle Henderson. In the fust period
Derek Nesbitt fed the puck back to
defenseman Ryan Willis who took
the shot and hit the goaltender.
Jason Ansteu shot the first rebound
and Derek Nesbitt the second to
take a 2-0 lead.
Mitchell notched two goals of
their own before the end of the
first.
Mitchell came out strong in the
second and scored three goals in
less than 5 min. A comeback was
in order and the Seaforth Atom
team was eager to oblige. Curtis
Murray notched his second of the
night assisted by J. Anstett. Tim
McClure scored also in the second
with help from teammates K.
Henderson and C. Murray.
The "Green Machines" were
down by one. The home -town team

scored four goals in the third to
Mitchell's 0. Scoring for Seaforth

Jason Ansteu and Derek Nesbitt.
Assists were credited to Jason
Anstett - 2, Kyle Henderson - 1,
