Friends give Sister Jean best wishes on birthday Sister Jean Moylan of Windsor spent last week visiting with her mother, Mary Moylan and relatives. On Saturday relatives and friends of Sister Jean's surprised her with an early birthday celebration at her mothers home in St. Columban. Happy Birthday Sister Jean from your friends in the community. Louise Ryan and Brett, Brock and Mariana Bailey of Cambridge and Mark and Debbie Ryan of Kitchener visited on Sunday with Cecilia Ryan. The March meeting of the St. Columban Catholic Women's League (CWL) will be held on Tuesday, March 1 at 8 p.m. in the rectory meeting room. On Thursday, March 3 at 7 p.m. members of the C.W.L. will be visiting the Seaforth Manor to entertain the residents. Seaforth Last Thursday the general meeting of the Seaforth Legion was held with John Lansink, 1st Vice President in the chair. Al Nicholson, membership chairman, reports the Legion now has 601 members in all categories. FRANK PHIIIIPS PHOTO FIREFIGHTERS HONOURED - Mayor Hazel Hildebrand, as Chair of the Seaforth Area Fire Board, presented rings and pins for long service at the Annual Firemen's Banquet held at the Seaforth Legion Hall on Feb. 5. Harry Hak (retired) was recipient of a 20 - year ring. Other honourees were Jack Bedard (20 -year ring), George Garrick (20 -year ring), Tom Phillips (25 -year watch) and Dennis Macaulay (15 -year ring, retired). Not shown is Peter Kling, also recipient of 25 -year watch. Twenty-year medals were received from the Govemor-General and twenty -five-year medals and plaques were received from the Fire Marshal. Feds call for no more post office closing The Government of Canada has announced there is and indefinite moratorium on rural and small town post office closures, said Paul Steckle, Member of Parliament for Huron -Bruce. He said the decision is a victory for rural Canadians. "Rural Canadians have fought for long and hard to end an ill- conceived policy that has led to the closure of over 1000 rural community post offices across Canada," said Stocklc.
