The Centenaires fared better earlier in the week in Ontario Hockey Association Junior Devel- opment League action. Friday night at Seaforth they scored three short- handed goals and goaltender Dana Duskocy recorded his league -lead- ing fourth shutout of this season as the Centenaires blasted the Belmont Pests 12-0. And Tuesday night, also on home ice, Paul McLlwain had a six -point outing as the Cents beat the Irish 7-5. Seaforth now owns a 17-14-4 record. They played in Mitchell last night (Tu.sday) but results weren't available at press time. The Cents face another busy week with another three games: Friday night at 8:30 in Exeter against the Hawks, Sunday night at 8:30 in Seaforth again against the Mitchell Hawks and next Wednesday in Belmont at 8:30 p.m. in a game against the Pests that was postponed because of weather earlier in the schedule. The Centenaires pulled their goaltender in favor of an extra attacker and came within a whisker of tying Sunday night's entertaining game in a goal -mouth scramble that ended when the net came off its moorings with just four seconds left on the clock. The Irish led 2-1 after the first period but the two teams were tied 3-3 after the second. A shorthanded goal that shouldn't have been, to the short side of goaltender Jamie Redmond 32 seconds into the third was the one that broke Seaforth's back. McLlwain, Chad Ramer and Karsten Carroll and Ted Sills, both on the powerplay, scored for Five 300 games bowled on Thursday, Feb.3 February 3 was a night for 300 games in the Thursday Nighters Bowling League. There were five 300 games plus many more excel- lent scores. The match -up on lanes 1 and 2 between the Attitude Adjusters and the B.F.D's saw the Adjusters take two games and the B.F.D's one game and total pins. High games for the Adjusters came from Murray Bennewies 267,282,343-892, and Jack Ungarian 201,216-594. The B.F.D's got excellent games from Doug Leonhardt .269,322,283-874, Debbie Bedard 204-546, Marty Bedard 215 and Tom Turner 220,241-647. The Pin Heads outbowled the Hot Flashes 7-0. Leading the way for the Pin Heads were Doug Procter 226,345,229-809, Brian Barry 271,234,213-718, Sharrie MacDonald 507 triple, Steve Steep 215 and Jason Rooth 267,260-645. The Hot Flashes' top bowlers were Mike Thomson 205, Terry Gray 234,218-635 and Shelly McKellar 217-547. The Ultimate Challenge swept The Legends 7-0 on lanes 5 and 6. Neil Beuerman's 225,340,320-885, Erich Matzold's 204,213-610, Dean Price's 270,233-660, Don Brown's 233 and Sue Alce's 202 helped the cause for the Challenge. The Leg- ends high scoring bowlers were Gary Bedard 236, Kevin Smith 209, Ralph Johnston 221, and Tracy Bedard 227-507. It was an exciting battle that the Centenaires almost tied but ended up breaking a four -game win streak by the home squad. Seaforth. Don Rivers had a pair of assists with singles coming from the sticks of Andrew Scott, Scott Wright, Joe Murray, Trevor Smith and Karsten Carroll. Referee Dave Whaley gave Lucan 10 of the 19 minor penalties called in the game. Winthrop's lone goal scored by old Smoothie Janice Fantmson, nice passing Deb and DUMPERS 8 - KNIGHTS 1 Tigers move by George Love The Tigers moved up in the St. James Bowling League standings with a 7-0 victory over the first place Orioles on Monday, Jan. 31. Arie Van Diepen led the Tigers with 261,238-696, Martin Van Bakel 220, 230 - 624, Martin Andreassi 219-585 and Pat Nolan 226-507. For the Orioles, it was Don Kuntz 205 - 560. The Rockies also moved up with a 5-2 win over the Cubs. High bowlers for the Rockies were Murray Bennewies, 244,202,243- 689 and Tim Brown 262,210-637. The Cubs moved into a first place tie with the Orioles by virtue of their 2 points. Don Nolan paced the Cubs with 209,218,213-640. The Braves tightened the stand- ings with a 5-2 win over the Indians.
