Are you caring for a loved one in
your home? Is looking after their
health jeopardizing your own
health? Would you like some sup-
port and answers?
Through the months of January,
February and March, 1994, the
Huron County Health Unit (Public
Health & Home Care) and other
concerned agencies, plan to offer
the program "Caring with Confi-
dence" in the Seaforth area.
Caring with Confidence is an
educational support group for indi-
viduals who provide daily care for
a loved one with health problems.
This program provides help for
spouses who care for partners who
suffer from Alzheimer Disease and
other debilitating illness.
If you or anyone you know could
benefit from this caregiver pro
please contact Marguerite or Cathy
at the Health Unit (482-3416) or
Louise at Home Care (482-3411)
for more details. On February 10,
1994 at 7 p.m. the Video "When
The Day Comes" will be shown at
the Woman's Resource Centre,
Seaforth.
Members of the "Sandwich Gen-
eration" who are faced with the
demands of an aging parent, their
own children and everyday life. The
common factor for people in all of
these situations is the added stress
of caring for a loved one and the
changes that occur in their lives.
These changes place the individual
in a situation of possible burnout
jeopardizing their own health. The
program allows caregivers to talk
and share with others in similar
situations and learn about coping
strategies, and community
resources, thus "lightening the
load".
Caring with Confidence has been
offered in Clinton, Goderich, Grand
Bend, and Exeter. Interested per-
sons meet weekly at a mutually
agreed upon time. Transportation
can be arranged as well as
homemakers, while the person is
