Sizzlers earn 5-3
ringette victory
The Seaforth Sizzlers Petite
ringette club took a Christmas Holi-
day of almost three weeks and then
played three games in four days
before heading back to school with
their season's standing at 17-1-1.
On Thursday, Dec. 30 two exhibi-
tion games were scheduled, the first
in Seaforth against Cambridge
"AA". Cambridge was keen to play
arriving in Seaforth just after the
barricades were taken down on
Highway 8. The strong defence of
Cambridge kept the Sizzler offence
tied up in knots but the Seaforth
defence and goalie Sarah played
extremely well, limiting Cambridge
shooters to four goals. Seaforth's
Kim Devereaux, assisted by Jessica
Finlayson and Katie Holland, scored
the Sizzler's lone goal in their first
loss of the season.
Later the same day, after another
snow squall had passed through -the
area, the Dorchester "A" team
arrived in Hensall for an exhibition
game. All of the Seaforth players
and their shirts made it to the arena
on time for this game and the girls
were back to their regular game.
Dorchester played a very aggressive
game and forced the Sizzlers to
earn this 5-3 victory. Scoring for
Seaforth were Marsha Denys .(2),
Kim Devereaux (2) and Jessica
Finlayson. Assists were awarded to
Lori McKay (3), Jessica Finlayson
(2), Jenny Del Vecchio (2), Katie
Holland and Becky deVries.
The Sizzlers rang in the New
Year on Sunday, January 2 with a
Huron -Perth League game against
Exeter in Exeter. Lori McKay
scored a hat -trick in this game,
Jenny DelVecchio and Marsha
Denys each scored two, and singles
were scored by Jeanette Crowley,
Kim Devereaux and Jessica
Finlayson. Kim Devereaux led with
three assists, Jessica Finlayson,
Alison Devereaux, Marsha Denys
and Katie Holland were each
awarded two, and Becky deVries,
Lori McKay, Jenny DelVecchio,
and Jeanette Crowley each earned
one in this 11-3 victory.
