After winning WOSSAA for the
tenth year in a row, the St. Anne's
girls' rugby team headed to
OFSAA in Ajax from May 29-31.
They were seeded third in the
tournament.
The St. Anne's Eagles defeated
Newtonbrook from Toronto 69-5
in their opening match of the
tournament.
"The entire team played well
and all players got on the field,"
said coach Ryan Clancy. "Jay-
mee Nolan was recognized as
woman of the match for St.
Anne's."
They followed that with a match
against Sutton District High School,
seeded sixth, the next day. They
won the game 19-7.
After that victory, they played
Bayside from Belleville the same
day, a team seeded number two.
That matched determined if
they were to move onto the gold
medal match, or play for bronze.
Unfortunately, the Eagles did
not get a chance this year to play
in the gold match. 'Ihey fell 27-0
to Bellville.
`This was in pretty soggy condi-
tions after a 25 hour delay for light-
ning, so it was tough, said Clancy.
They had a break overnight
before playing Smith Falls the
next day who was seeded fourth
in the tournament.
"The St. Anne's Eagles put in a
valiant effort but fell agonizingly
by a final score of 12-10 to the
fourth seeded Smiths Falls
team," said Clancy in an email.
the Clinton school represented
their region proudly and played
unbelievably high level rugby in

Stacy Masse was recognized as
Woman of the Match for St Anne's.
As the fourth place team, they
all received antique bronze
medallions.
