E CARE exercise and wellness programs
More than 70 volunteers
and wellness staff joined for
a great day of learning and
re-training for ONE CARE
exercise leader volunteers, in
Clinton on May 12.
Instructors completed
their exercise leader re-train-
ing, and took part in
workshops in poling, hiking
and walking.
Guest speakers included
Leslie McAdam and Sarah
Merkel from the Canadian
Centre for Activity and Aging,
Barb Gormley from Urban
Poling and Tom Friesen,
President of Hike Ontario.
ONE CARE offers a variety
of exercise and wellness pro-
grams for older adults.
These free classes are held
at various locations across
Huron County with classes
and programs for all levels of
activity and mobility.
More than 1,000 people
take part in the ONE CARE
exercises classes.
Trained staff and volun-
teers provide ONE CARE's
physical activity programs.
Staff and volunteers guide
participants through the
exercise program, while
focusing on safety.
ONE CARE staff and vol-
unteers are sensitive to the
varying needs of partici-
pants, and can accommo-
date individual challenges
during programs.
Karen Hartman who super-
vises the program notes, "It is
never too late to improve
physical fitness. Participants
in our exercise programs
enjoy the benefits of exercise,
as well as the opportunity to
socialize with others:'
