Goderich Signal Star, 2017-05-31, Page 1212 Signal Star • Wednesday, May 31, 2017 0 N E CARE exercise and wellness programs More than 70 volunteers and wellness staff joined for a great day of learning and re-training for ONE CARE exercise leader volunteers, in Clinton on May 12. Instructors completed their exercise leader re-train- ing, and took part in workshops in poling, hiking and walking. Guest speakers included Leslie McAdam and Sarah Merkel from the Canadian Centre for Activity and Aging, Barb Gormley from Urban Poling and Tom Friesen, President of Hike Ontario. ONE CARE offers a variety of exercise and wellness pro- grams for older adults. These free classes are held at various locations across Huron County with classes and programs for all levels of activity and mobility. More than 1,000 people take part in the ONE CARE exercises classes. Trained staff and volun- teers provide ONE CARE's physical activity programs. Staff and volunteers guide participants through the exercise program, while focusing on safety. ONE CARE staff and vol- unteers are sensitive to the varying needs of partici- pants, and can accommo- date individual challenges during programs.
