Goderich Signal Star, 2017-03-22, Page 9Still Standing wins Canadian Screen Award for Vanastra episode Shaun Gregory Postmedia Network CBC's television series Still Standing's name itself is a perfect description of the tri- umph of being honoured two years in a row at the Canadian Screen Awards, with two additional awards to add to their list of achieve- ments; the unique history of a small village neighbouring Seaforth is to thank for one of those decorations. The show, produced by Frantic Films, is the back-to- back (2016 and 2017) win- ner of Best Factual Program or Series. Jonny Harris, with his distinctive Newfound- lander accent and comedic aura, earned the title of Best Host in a Lifestyle, Talk or Entertainment News Pro- gram as well as Writing in a Factual Program or Series. For the later, the award was granted for the Vanastra episode. The executive producer of Canada's far-flung series about small sometimes for- gotten settlements, Mau- reen Riley said they were given the choice of what episode to submit. "I chose Vanastra because the town had a great story; Jonny was inspired by this story as were the other writers," she stated through emails. "When the team is inspired the work is good, and get- ting the award just goes to. show that."
