To all Young Canada Week
Coaches, Parents
and Spectators:
The Goderich Lions Club is proud to host the 68th
Annual Young Canada Week Pee Wee hockey tour-
nament. Since its inception back in 1950, the main
intention of the tournament was to provide a venue
forkids to come to Goderich and safely enjoy the
great game of hockey. This continues to be the
main goal of the tournament.
We recognize that winning is an objective of team
sports. However, the main goal is to let the kids
safely play hockey. No child should fear being
targeted by another team to the point that he or she
does not want to participate.
We also recognize there are situations where we
do not agree with the call on the ice. We can as-
sure you that all our referees are certified either by
the OMHA or the OWHA and, as such, bring with
them the rules and integrity of the game. Through
our referee -in -chief, we will do our best to provide
the highest quality refereeing possible.
We will do our part to ensure the kids come first!
We ask that all coaches, parents and spectators in
general conduct themselves appropriately.
This week is for the kids to safely enjoy the great
game of hockey. Let's let them have their fun!

It was 68 years ago when the puck first dropped here
in Goderich to kick-off what has become an annual
tradition.
The hard work and dedication from the members
of the Goderich Lions Club to continue with this
'extraordinary event is commendable.
Many past and present NHL Hockey Stars have
played in this tournament over the years. During this
tournament, you may be witnessing some future up
and coming hockey heroes.
As Mayor, on behalf of the Town of Goderich,
I would like to welcome you to our Town, and invite
you to take the time to enjoy all that we have to offer.
