Message from the
Tournament Chairperson
Welcome players, coaches, parents,
volunteers and spectators to the 68th
annual Goderich Lions Club Young
Canada Week Pee Wee hockey
tournament.
This year marks the end of an era. Mary and Dirk Wolterbeek
have provided the high quality hot meals for all the players
and coaches for the past 34 years. They have done so through
thick and thin and always with the attitude that the kids
come first. It was with heavy hearts that they advised us
they can no longer' continue their tradition. As a token of
our appreciation, we will be honoring their contribution and
dedication to the YCW tournament with a special presentation.
Please join us in thanking them for their tireless contribution
to the success of the tournament.
On the bright side, we are pleased to announce that Gus
Balkouras, owner of the Candelite Restaurant, has stepped
forward and will be providing the food services at his
establishment here in town.
We are also pleased to provide a different twist to the opening
ceremonies by having a "guide dog" participate. You will have
to come to the ceremony to see how!!!
68 years is a long time and the Goderich Lions are very proud
to be able to continue with this tradition. However, with the
number of tournaments available, it is getting harder and
harder to attract teams. As such, we have prepared a small
questionnaire and ask thatyou please take the time to fill it in
and help us make this tournament better.
We hope that you will enjoy the tournament. We know the
kids will put on a great show! Let's let them have fun and
really enjoy the great game of hockey.
