YMCA launches annual Strong Kids
Campaign in Goderich-Huron
The Goderich-Huron YMCA
was proud to kick-off their
annual YMCA Strong Kids
Fundraising Campaign with a
goal of 574,000 and generous
donations from Goderich
Minor Hockey, ABC Invest-
ments and The Goderich
Kinette Club.
The annual campaign helps
fund local YMCA programs that
improve the lives of children
and youth from families with
financial barriers by giving them
access to nutritious food, recre-
ation and healthy environ-
ments. Donor support made a
difference in our community by
providing 975 people with
membership assistance last
year, giving more kids, adults,
seniors and families a chance to
experience the YMCA in their
own way.
"We are grateful for the first
corporate donations of $7,500
total amount of donation from 3
local supporters, a great indica-
tion of the business communi-
ty's support of Strong Kids," said
Kathi Lomas -McGee, YMCA
Senior VP. "We want to provide
opportunities for young people
to reach their potential, achieve
their goals and improve their
lives. Last year, one in six kids
coming to a YMCA Health, Fit-
ness & Aquatic Centre required
financial assistance, and that
need continues. The YMCA
Strong Kids Fundraising Cam-
paign helps eliminate the very
real financial barriers these chil-
dren face, and without it we
would not be able to serve them.
Its generous donations from
local businesses and commu-
nity groups like Goderich Minor
Hockey, ABC Investments and
The Goderich Kinette Club help
make that a reality."
The YMCA Strong Kids Cam-
paign runs February 15 -April 39;
however donations can be made
