The festivities kicked off on Friday night including the "Battle
of the Chainsaws". Two people from Icecutture inc. in Hensall
battled to create the best ice structure in a limited amount of
time.

Goderich Winterfest 2017
Chris Fudali from 94.5 Classic Rock serves up chili at the chili
cook -off in Suncoast Mall. Members of the public were able
to taste different chiiis made by various local organizations
and vote on their favourite. The event was well attended.

The Maitland Curling Club hosted a full day bonspiet on January 4, the Saturday of the festival. Members of the public were invited
to watch.
There was lots to do at the Huron County Museum over
the weekend. They hosted a Makers Market featuring local
bakers and growers, ice themed activities, movies, warm
drinks, and more. Pictured here are craft supplies set outr.
for kids; one craft was to "make your own main street" in a
shoebox.
The Candlelit Winter Walk was a hit. Residents were able
to go for a winter hike on the Friday night; the trail, which
was just over one kilometer, was lit the entire way with
homemade lanterns. •
