After the Patriots ante at three, Captain Brandon got into the action with a nicely placed shot of his own at the end of a bull - like rush. A Pau iots goal five seconds into a powerplay less than two minutes later had fans wondering if the Sailors could pull it off, but Brandon Prlestap put the Sailors ahead for good, as Sailors held the lead for the last 11 minutes of the game. Shots on net proved key in this game. The Sailors put 38 on the Mt, Forest net, and Jaden Shrier stopped 26 of the 30 he faced. Evan Rivett, who has been spending some time up front to add some hustle and physi- cal play, played a huge part in the victory, grabbing three assists. Mack O'Keefe, Sean Halley, Slider, Priestap, and Moore picked up singles. Newly added Spencer Aspden impressed in his first game as a Sailor. Following the December 5 cut, the Sailors have three open cards remaining, with 22 active players. Of the 22 active, Sam. Feagan (out since September 30 but hopeful to return in the next few weeks) and Thomas Bedour (hand - 6 weeks) are on the disabled list. Con- nor Devereaux will be returning home for Christmas Break in the next week or so. Although on the surface, this season looks worse than last, a look at the numbers over the first 25 games shows that there are areas both of and for improvement. The Sailors have shaved 37 goals against off of their 2010 - 11 total after 25 games (146 vs 183), but have 19 fewer goals for (46 vs 65). Although the Sailors have been blown out a few times late in games, for the most part, the on -ice prod- uct is a quality one, just missing out on points by a goal or two.. Next weekend is a 3 -gamer for the Sailors. After travelling to Walkerton on Friday, the Sailors play a home -and -home with the Patriots, Saturday In Mat. Forest, and Sunday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. at the MRC. Fans who bring a non-perishable food item to Sunday's game get Si off the price of admission.
