The Goderich Signal-Star, 2009-12-16, Page 4Page 4 - Goderich Signal -Star, Wednesday, December 16, 2009 A sit down with Santa Gerard Crsc.a signal -star staff The smell of hot pancakes filled the Knox Presbyterian auditorium as diners received their generous breakfast from a crew of dedicated volunteers Saturday morning. On the other side of the church's mas- sive basement, kids were making crafts, paper chains, colouring and waiting their turn to sit in Santa's lap, rhyme off their Christmas wishes and get a photo. The 14th annual Breakfast with Santa brought out big and small alike for a taste of the holiday season December 12. More than 350 people attended the an- nual breakfast, held in loving memory of Sue Munnoch. Part of the event's success is the ability to bring families together for not just a vis- it with Santa, but with each other, accord- ing to Munnoch's father, Bill Anderson. "The reason it is so busy is is everyone arrives but noone goes home," he smiled. "There are people you meet who you haven't met since last year. That's just great." Adding to the feeling of Christmas were the voices of Finola McGuinty and Don Rivera, whose duet morphed into a trio here, a quintet there, as children grabbed percussive instruments and joined in the holiday song. As the last of the children's lists were secretly .whispered in Santa's ear, Break- fast with Santa once again sent families on their way with sated appetites and Christ- mas enthusiasm.
