dollar is above par in New York and
other American cities. This is the
first time in years that the Canadian
dollar is worth more than the Amer-
ican dollar. In 1861 at the close of
the war between the North and the
South, the Amarican dollar was
worth only, 831/2 cents.
Who is Eligible for Office.
A new form of declaration, passed
at last session, is now to be signed
by a candidate for municipal office.
This allows anyone who is owner or
tenant of a dwelling, or owner of
land, and entered on the voters' list,
a British subject over 21 years of age
with taxes paid tip and living within
two miles of the municipality, to hold
office,

Society is purely a student body and
to these young people alone belongs
the credit of the play to be given by
them.
Dr. Arthur Ramsay,' of Calgary,
Meat• Inspector, is moving back to
Toronto. Miss Nellie Ramsay and
Mr: Ramsay's two children are al-
ready in Toronto.
Mr. John Cole, of Usborne, has.
moved into the residence on Andrew
St. recently
purchased from Mr. T.
Cameron. Mr. Cameron has moved
to a farm on the Thames Road.
Mr. W. Sims has purchased from
Mrs, A. Cottle the corner` house on
the south side of Ann street. Mrs.
Cottle is moving into one of the new
houses she erected this 'summer.
Marks Bros. appeared in the Exe-
ter Opera House' on Wednesday and
Thursday evenings of last week and
drew fairly large houses, their plays
being appreciated by those present.
Ayoung Irishman came to this
country and asked a farmer for
job. The latter wished wished to know what
brought so' many Irishmen to Canada.
The Irishman replied: "Well, sorr,,

er in Oirland, and we came here in

OBITUARY.
The following obituary will be of
interest to many readers of The
Times. Mrs. 'Casaday was formerly
Margaret Munroe, of Exeter.
George Warren Casaday was born
in Monona, Iowa, in 1868; the only
son of Warren and Elizabeth Casaday
of that place. He received his early
education in the home. schools. While
in active life he' took' a correspon-
dence course in the international
school at 'Scranton, Penn., and later
he earned a diploma from the Iowa
State College at Ames,.'
Mi;.:Oasaday was employed in the
Hart -Parr factory here at the time ,of
his first operation two years ago last
summer. Since then he„has been a
constant sufferer and for the past
year he has been in bed.
He passed to the Home Above on
Wednesday evening, November 22nd.
Words hat he had quoted a few days
earlier were true to the manner of
,his going. •
.."And his face lit up with a smile of
joy
As an angel dream. passed -o'er him."
There: are left to anticipate the.
glad reunion on the Ottier •Side, the
wife, Mrs.. Margaret Casaday; the
father and mother, wholive at Mon-
ona; four sisters, Mrs, Grace Evans,
of Beyerhauser, Wis.; Mrs. Gertrude
Waalk, o Monona; Mrs. Nelson Beel-
er, of Wukon, and Mrs. HariettBar-
ker, of :; G16n Flora, Wis.
Funeral services were held in the
Congregational church," Rev. Edwin
Booth Jr., having charge. The Odd
Fellows Lodge and the Rebekahs be-
ing, present in a body. Another
church service was held in Monona,
Rev. Ackman being in charge and the
Odd Fellows of „that place attending.
Burial was made at Monona.
