Mr. Scott was working; in the barn' with a lantern, when it either exploded or fell over and started a conflagration. The flames spread , so rapidly that practically little could be done to save any of the contents. The day was quietly spent at home. Mr. Treble is a life- long resident of this community. He was born just south of town on the London Road. He has witnessed the transforming of the virgin forests to the fertile and improved farms and highways that we have at the present tine. Crocker, of I "The Lucan and Exeter • Juniors played a game of ball. in Lucan on Friday last to decide the winners for the second half of- the series and the I. Lucan team defeated our- boys 14 to 4. As ,the Exeter Juniors won the first half this made these two teams tie for the group honors. The, first game to decide the group honors was played in town on Monday and the locals defeated the visitors 12 to 3. The Lucan team', blew up the first innings in the field' and the locals had a merry-go-round seven runs crossing the plate; After that the teams settled down to a good game or ball. Lucan scored one run in the first innings and two in the sixth, Exeter scored 7 in the first; 2 in the 4th; 1 in the 5th and two in the 7th Exeter is to play the return game in Lucan.
