Mr, and Mrs. Wm. Treble, of town,
an event that rarely falls to the lot of
two people. The day was quietly
spent at home. Mr. Treble is a life-
long resident of this community. He
was born just south of town on the
London Road. He has witnessed
the transforming of the virgin forests
to the fertile and improved farms and
highways that we have at the present
tine. When a lad at the age of 14
years he was apprenticed to the late
John, Rendle as wagon -maker and{
was tci ser5e'for tour years. He re-
ceived the princely sum of $30 the i
first year, $35 the second and $40
the third. He worked in a building
on the east side. of Main streef "near
where the Times building now stands]
At that time there were only about
five acres of landcleared on the:Past
side of Main street. After serving
for a few years at the 'wagon -making
Mr. Treble went framing and many of
the buildings in this community, has
he helped in construct. Mrs. Treble, 1
whose maiden name was Catharine 1
Sheerer was born in Devonshire and
at the age of 14 she came to Canada
with her parents settling in.this com-
munity. At the present time both
Mr. • and Mrs. Treble are enjoying
