ups win streak at home
The Goderich Junior Ringette
team made it three wins in a
row on Sunday at the Maitland
Recreation Centre when they
out scored the visiting London
Lynx 4-2:
The game was certainly a
goalie's duel with Goderich's
Meredith McEwan edging out
the London netminder with
some spectacular saves.
Jayme Austin opened the
scoring for Goderich with a
quick shot just inside the post
after a neat little feed from Car-
ling MacKenzie.
For much of the early game,
London's goalie had been ston-
ing the Junior s snipers and
frustration was creeping onto
the Goderich bench.
London took the lead on a
short-handed goal, but at 5:27
Erin Dietrich tied the game up
at 2-2 with a now patented rip-
ping wrister into the top corner.
Dietrich had started the game
on defence but had to be moved
up to forward due to an injury
to Colby Hillier who left the
game after being taken into the
boards. Kira Trebish assisted
on the Dietrich marker.
After a great neutral zone
transition play, Ashley Johnson
feathered a wonderful pass to
Jessica Hummel who faked go-
ing behind the net and deposited
the winner behind the Seaforth
goalie amid cheers from the ca-
pacity crowd.. An unassisted in-
surance goal by Austin gave the
Junior ladies a 4-2 final tally.
This was a chippy affair with
London being assessed eight
minor penalties and Goderich
registering six. Emotions rad
high several times during the
contest on both teams, espe-
cially when the Goderich bench
were forced to watch as a team-
mate was assisted off the ice.
Consistent pressure from the
rest of the Goderich forwards,
Cunningham, Pentland and
Hillier provided a hectic day for
the Seaforth goalie.
Also, rock -solid defence from
Trebish, Oudshoorn, DenDun-
nen and MacKenzie ensured
the London team's goal scorers
were kept at bay. .

along with making new friends, learning valuable life
lessons and discovering a love for the game. That's why
