Mention the name of The
Amazing Kreskin and for
a generation of Canadians
it conjures up fond memo-
ries of a long-running tele-
vision series in which the
affable mentalist demon-
strated and dramatized the
unparalleled power of the
human mind.
The man who has per-
formed stunning feats of
mental projections for
over five decades with
celebrities in countries
around the world, Kreskin
will be performing live in
Goderich at The Livery on
Saturday, Feb. 7 at 7:30
p.m. as part of the town's
annual Winterfest celebra-
tions. All proceeds from
the event will assist the
Children's Booster Club
and the Livery.
While he has been
called a medium and even
a psychic, Kreskin says he
is just like most people ex-
cept that he has trained his
mind to tune in to intuitive
clues and subtleties that
most people might simply
ignore. His ability to plant
suggestions and influence
people through extraordi-
nary mental projections is
uncanny.
"I think it's fair to char-
acterize me as a mental-
ist," he said in a phone
interview with Signal -Star
from his office in New Jer-
sey. " I am intuitive and
have unusual gifts of sen-
sitivity. I am also a thought
reader and able to influ-

Mentalist, The Amazing Kreskin, ,will be demonsrat-
ing his talents at The Livery as part of Winterfest this
weekend.
ence people through sug-
gestions."
He has been entertain-
ing Canadians and audi-
ences around the world
with a style that exudes
charm and showcases his
engaging showman's flair
and comedian's wit while
fully involving his audi-
ence in feats of mental
projection. The man who
has performed around the
world and appeared on
over 500 television shows,
movies and commercials,
promises that he will bring
an exciting show to small-
town Ontario that will
amaze the audience.
"I love to get out to see
people and perform for live
audiences," he said. "I will.
be on stage for two hours
with no barriers with the
audience. I will be tuning
in on thoughts and I can
tell you that a piano plays
an important role in the
act and that many things
will be happening. It will
be hilarious and amazing
and the people that will be
there will see."
During the program,
Kreskin will involve local
residents, bringing strang-
ers on stage to participate
in a demonstration in-
volving hiding a $15,000
cheque of his own money.
He will be escorted from
the theatre, the cheque will
be hidden from view and
without any communica-
tion he will return and de-
termine the location of the
money.
"There are no gimmicks
involved. I will be escorted
from the theatre and won't
know what is going on,"
he said. "I will be called
back in and with no com-
munication determine the
location of the cheque. It's
not just a game, it's expen-
sive."
The demonstration of his
concentrative and intuitive
powers has cost him over
the years and he estimates
that he has failed to locate
the hidden cheque nine
times out of about 6,000
shows.
While he lays no claims
to possessing psychic
powers or the ability to
predict the future, Kreskin
suggests he has the ability
to read thoughts if people
use their own powers of
concentration.
"I can perceive people's
thoughts if they concen-
trate and I can tune in and
respond to subtle clues,"
he said. "I am basically a
thought reader."
No stranger to Cana-
dian politics or audiences,
the 74 -year-old Kreskin
starred in a highly -rated
television series for five
years that was based out of
Ottawa and Toronto in the
1970s. In the late 1980s
he starred in Kreskin"s
Quest, a series of interna-
tional syndicated specials,
appeared on the
Tonight Show with
Johnny Carson, 88
times and is the au-
thor of 10 books.
Die main . char-
acter of the Tom
Hanks movie, The
Great .Buck How-
ard, which will be
released March 20, is
based on The Amaz-
ing Kreskin.
The Saturday eve-
ning show at The
Livery also features
the musical stylings
of the Howlin' Dog
Jazz Band. Tickets
are available at Ernie
Kings, The Livery
Box Office, The Park
House or Goderich
Print Shop.
