Truck woes referred to police board
A citizen's complaint over continued truck traffic
on Nelson Street and other streets not designated as
truck routes, has been referred to the Police Services
Board.
Dennis Hartleib appeared before council again urg-
ing the town to enforce its bylaws concerning desig-
nated truck routes and the use of proper signage 10
direct truck traffic. This year, much of the truck traffic
headed for the main beach area was diverted with the
reconstruction of Elgin Avenue.
Following a submission from Hartleib in
July, council asked the OPP to enforce the
bylaw and requested the bylaw enforcement
officer to request that a scrap yard owner
on Nelson Street advise truck drivers not
use a portion of Nelson Street. Hartleib told
council the area is not signed properly and
not properly policed.
