Regiment and later was transferred to
the 28th North West Battalion. He
• went overseas three years :go and
was in Paschen;daeele Amiens battles,
was gassed and wounded by shrapnel
in. the left arm and right knee Fit
Amiens He was sent to Burmington
Ease Hospital and is now recovering,
from the wounds he sustained; He
sailed for Canada, on the Carnania and
while as his way here he 'hapnen-
ed to be just twenty minutes alneend
of the troop train that was wrecked
in New Brunswick. After a visit of
a few nnteeks here with his sister 1•.e
will leave for his home in, Battleford,
Sask.

On Friday of last week Mrs. William
Heaman, who makes her home with
her daughter, :Sirs. Ambrose Cottle,
accidently fell on the kitchen floor
and broke thee' bone in her leg above
the knee besides dislocating the knee.
She is now resting as easily as an
be expected, but as she has reache..I
the. great age, of 94 years, her recov-
ery will, of necessity be slow,
, BOGUS COINS CIRCULATED
Counterfeit 50 -cent pieces are re-
ported as being circulated in Lon-
don and Western Ontario.a It is
claimed that the spurious coin, is be-
ing put out by a mann who devotes hiu'
time to making five and ten
cent purchases and collecting the
change. The bogus character of the
50 -cent piece was detected by the
fact that they lack the milling edge,

Louis Kirk, who is engaged •,vith
Mrs. Samuel, Cudmore 3,71 Usborne, met
with an unfortunate accident an 'rues -
day of .last week. He was operating
a gasoline eagnne on the farm of Mr.
Robert Bell, where they were. cut-
ting wood, and his mit, getting caught
in. the clutch an, the engine, his right
,hared was drawn into the, machine, and.
the wrist badly broken. The injured
member was dressed and is now do-
ing as well as can be expected, but
it being a bad fracture it vial; be some

the arm. .

from pneumonia, following an attack

Huron. County Poultry Association
