DEATH OF MR. BLAKE—Mr. Phil-
p Blake who has been. ill at ais home
for severa weeks, passed neacefully

HIGH CLASS CONCERT.—Great
credie must be given to Mr. Richard
Phillips organist of James Street
Methodist church,. and those who
assisted him for giving the people of
Exeter the best musical concert they
have listened to foe several years.
The auditorium of the church was
well filled on Monday night, and not
a single number op the program awes
rendered but what was fully apprecia-
ted, The program was nicely varied,
consisting as it did of vocal and also
piano solos, duets, ,trios, and quar-
tettes The choruses by forty mixed
voices and also by twelve, male voices
were very highly appreciated, Mr., N.
S. Maudsley of Toronto is a pleasing
soloist with 'powerful voice and wide
range and his rendering of "The death
of Nelson" "The enchanted Glade"
'ely Queen' and "Beneath my Win-
dow'', 'reaeived great applause leed
much praise. mr, Goodwill MT 1 Mr.
Phillipe sang "Tenor and Baritone" in
excellent voice. The piano duet by
