from Mr. Towers house on the Bound-

his house and built a good stone cellar
underneath and is otherwise impprov-
ing it.—Mr. Thomas Hoggarth deliver-
ed fourteen head of his fat cattle this
week at Hensall to Mr, Lamont, of
Zurich, for which he realized a hand-
some price. These were nice cattle,
well fattened and are for the English
market.—Mrs. John McLachlan, a re-

years ago, who since then has been
living near St. Thomas, has been the

a fatal runaway accident occurred on
Saturday afternoon. Mr. Jaspaar Wal-
koin, of Kirkton, accompanied by his
wife, drove to Mitchell on Saturday,
with his spirited team of grays. In the
afternoon. when he was ready
to start for home, in pulling tip his
team in front of the Royal hotel,
the pole slipped through the loop of
the neck -yoke, causing the buggy to
run up against the horses' legs and
away they went at full speed. Mr.

DEATIT or llrs. POLLEN.—Last week
we announced that the wife of Mr.
John Pollen had been stricken down
with a paralytic stroke the week prev-
ions. This week it is our sad duty to
chronicle her death, which sacs event
occurred at her home Friday evening,
after an illness of about a week, ' Her
health had riot been very good during
the past winter, ap to ,within about
two weeks of her last illness, when
during this short- interval she Was
somewhat better. She was 67 years of
age and leaves it husband, three sons
itncl two clanghters;to mourn her de-
rnise.' She was i-de'votnd end faithful
wire and a kind, affectionate and in-
dulgent mother. Her remains .were
interred Snndayafternoon�in the Staffa.

ed a letter from Ailsa Craig the other
day informing him that his Kentucky
bred. mare had died the day previous
in giving birth to twin colts. The
mare had a fashionable pepigree and

Blake: Miss Susie Swayze has re-
turned to her home. She has been in
Clinton hospital for about three weeks,
where she underwent an operation for
appendicitis. She has had, during the
past year, several severe attacks of.
appendicitis, and, now that the de-
seased part has been removed, we
trust she will remain permanently
well. So faax' she has made an excel-
lent recovery, having had no bad

formed in town for the purpose of
