Appetite and Health Restored by

"C. I. hood Sr Co., Lowell, Mass.:
"For a number of years I have been troubled
with a general tired feeling, shortness of breath,
'pain in the back, and coustipation. I could get
only little rust at night on account of the pain,
and had no appetite whatever. I was that tired
in my limbs that I gave out before half the day
was gone. I tried a great number of so-called
blood purifiers, but with no good results. I was
also under the care of several doctors. Fre-
quently I had such bad spells that I had to be

much pleasure in recommending Hood's Sarsa-

Headache and impure Blood
Hood's Sarsapariila Quiohly 'oared.
"C. 1. Hood & Co., Lowell, Mass.:
"About a year ago I lutd an attack of the grip,
followed by a continued headache and dizzi-
ness. And shortly after this my face broke out
in blotches like ring -worms. I tried numerous
medicines to see what they would do for me,
but never found anything to take effect until, at
last, I thought I would give Hood's Sarsaparilla
a trial. Ipurchased one 1:ottle which soon took
effect for the better, and by the time I had taken
Sarsaparilla
half the bottle the headache had ceased and the
blotches had all left my face. I have never felt
better than I do now, and I think Hood's Sarsa-
parilla the best blood purifier on the market
and readily recommend it to anyone in need of
the same." Mise LouIsE LONG, Kelly's Com-
mercial House, Cul -de -Sac Street. Quebec, P. Q.

The Great Spring Medicine
Sweeps Away These
Troubles,
In almost every Canadian home, one
or more members suffer from indiges-
tion, dyspepsia, headache, nervousness
or sleeplessness. In the great major-
ity of cases the doctors have failed to
effect a permanent cure, and the com-
mon patent medicines of our times
have only prolonged suffering and
agony,
How different the results with those
who have used Paine's Celery Compound
they have in every case been raised to
a condition of perfect health, robustness
and mental vigor. Thousands of re-
newed and re-created men and women
in Canada, wilt forever remember that
their lives were saved and made happy
by Paine's Celery Compound. .
Mr. Hugh J. Riley, of 42 Agnes
Street, St. Henry, Montreal, is one of
the many who have given public testi
mony for the benefit of sufferers in
Canada. Mr. Riley writes as follows:
"I wish to publicly acknowledge the
fact that I am indebted to your Faille's
Celery Compound for health, strength
and life. For over three years I was a
terrible sufferer from indis estion, se-
vere pains in the stomach and head-
ache. In addition to these serious
troubles, I had no appetite or relish for
food, and hardly knew what it was to
have a good night's rest. This condi
tion of sleeplessness and anxiety made
me very nervous, and I was fast be
coming unfitted for my daily work..
After all other medicines had failed, I
was fortunately advised to use your
Paiue's Ce1(;ry Compound; and now, I
am delighted to declare that it has no
equal in the world for removing such
dangerous troubles as I suffered from.
I am daily gaining in strength, sleep
well every night, and my appetite is
good and healthy, I strongly recom-
mend Paine's Celery Compound to all
who need a reliable and honest med-
icine, and one that is sure to cure."

shape of a neatly printed sixteen col-

Gazette," published at Kingston, Ul-

Freer and Sons, cn Saturday, January
4th, 1800. It is sitll in an excellent
state of preservation. It contains a full
account of the obsequies of General
Washington, and the inside pages are
in deep mourning. while the columns
are mostly occupied by eulogies of the
deceased s'atesman. The advertising
columns are also well supplied with of-
cial'advertisements of various kinds.
Among the advertisements we notice
the following, the phraseology of which
will strike people of the present day as
somewhat odd: It is as follows: "For
sale, the one half of a saw mill, with a
convenient place for building, lying in
the town of Rochester. By the mill is an
inexhaustable quantity of Pine wood.
And, also A STOUT HEALTHY ACTIVE
NEGRO WENCH. Any person inclined
to purchase, may know the particulars
by applying to John Schoonmaker, jr.,
at Rochester." The "stout, healthy,
active negro wench," is displayed in
large letters in the advertisement as if
she was more of an attraction to pur-
chasers than the saw mill or the pine
wood.
