Suicide at Seaforth. Seaforth, February 6. -Early this morning the people of Seaforthwere shocked to heal teat Mr.T'homas Coven- try, one of the leading business men of the town, an old residen t and a respected citizen, had committed suicide. Last evening about five o'clock he purchased a revolver from Reid &, Wilson's hard- ware store, and went home as usual, coming back after tea withhis brother. It was noticed he was very despondent all day. Leaying his home about half- past six this morning tie went to open up his shop, but when his workman came about fift. en minutes to seven he was surprised at not finding Mr. Cov- entry, but thinking nothing wrong he went into the shop and found the body lying on the floor, in the back parr with a revolver hi his hand. He gave the alarm, and soon Drs. Smith and Cambell were on the scene. They ex- amined the body, and decided it un-! neecessary to hold an inquest as there was every evidence to show' that de- ceased had taken his own life. They found that the bullet had entered his right temple, and the revolver was held very close to the head, as his face was covered with powder. Mr. Oov- entry„had been in yery Door health lately, being under care of Dr. Cavan, of Toronto. His only son, Fred, was accidently shot last May, and he never recovered the loss of his darling boy. He leaves a wife and daughter, besides his brother, who resided with him, to mourn the death oto a loving husband and kind father, and a host of sym- pathizing friends.
