Exeter – After a poor
defensive effort against
Lucan the previous game,
the Exeter Hawks came
out Oct. 25 against
Belmont looking to regain
their first place form.
They took the game to
the visitors from the open-
ing faceoff and never gave
them a chance to get in
the game.
Jeremy Geoffrey got his
team rolling with an unas-
sisted goal 4 minutes into
the game and they went
up 2-0 when Ryan Abrams
connected with Shawn
Sherwood and Mike
MacLean.
The Hawks controlled
most of the period out-
shooting their opponents
13-2.
Exeter broke the game
open in the second period
firing four goals, with the
offense coming from all
lines.
Jon Keys made it a 3-0
game two minutes into the
period with Jared Bourne
increasing it to 4-0 mid-
way through the stanza.
The Hawks continued to
roll, scoring two goals in
as many minutes. Jared
Bourne put them up 5-0
before Eric Gelinas capped
the period with his first of
two in the game.
Gelinas’s second of the
night just into the third
period put the game out of
sight while Jeff Finkbeiner
added a late goal as
Exeter cruised to an 8-2
victory, out-shooting the
visitors 33-20.
It was a quiet night for
the officials with 3 penal-
ties for Exeter and 2 for
Belmont, both teams going
scoreless on the power-
play.
Exeter’s next game is at
home versus Mt. Brydges
Nov.1 at 8:30.

BRUSSELS – The Hensall
Sherwoods were in Blyth
Oct. 26 to face the first
year Crusaders and played
a very solid game defeat-
ing them12-0 improving
their record to 3 and 1.
The Sherwoods dominat-
ed every aspect of the
game, outshooting the
home side 45-20 and
receiving offense from the
entire team.
Coach Randy Parker was
pleased with the effort his
squad put forward, espe-
cially with the fact every
position player got at least
a point.
Steve Matthews and
Scott Phillips led the attack
with 4 points each, while
Shawn McCann, Chris
Downey, and Mark Bell
each had two goals.
Goalie Andy Glavin was
not tested often, but was
sharp when he had to be,
stopping all 20 shots for
the shutout.
It wasn’t a tough night
for the referee, having to
call only 8 minutes against
Hensall and 6 against
Brussels.
Hensall’s next game is at
home versus Lucknow
Nov. 2. Parker says he
doesn’t know what to
expect from them since
this is their first year back
in the south division.
It will be an 8:30 start
time instead of the usual
7:30.
