The mes- sage was "What Would You Do?" Jeanette Turner was the greeter with Eric and Eleanor Mansfield receiving the offering. Ryan Jacobe attended the elevator. Lorelee Schnieder was the organist for the ser- vice. The Friendship Circle will pack a bale on Monday November 4. Christmas cake and cookies will be available from the Friendship Circle, for more details call Kay Mock at 262- 3231. Rev Pirie Mitchell has been visiting his father recently. The Hensall United Church will be holding a Christmas Fantasy Auction on November 2. A special feature of the auction will be 100 table- top trees decorated by local businesses and indi- viduals. The Silent and Live Auction doors open at 7:30pm at the Hensall Community Centre, admission is $5. The other items include a seven-foot tall profes- sionally-decorated Christmas tree, restau- rants, golf, dinner par- ties, desserts, metal and woodworking, and RV rental. Ther will also be complimentary hors d'oeuvres and refresh- ments, a cash bar and door prizes. The October meeting of the Hensall and District Horticultural Society will be held on Wednesday October 23 at 7:30pm at Hensall United Church. Carol Steckle will speak and show slides on the Dutch Clock Auction held in Toronto. Bonus bulbs will be given out, if you can't attend please arrange to have a friend pick up your bulbs. All paid-up members receive daffodil bulbs instead of spring plants. At Carmel Presbyterian Church Tracey Whitson- Bahro was the minister with Joyce Pepper play- ing the organ. Harry Smith and Robert Bell received the offering. October 31 is the date of the noon lunch of soup, sandwich, and dessert. No tickets needed. Admission is $5, every- one is welcome. The lunch will be served from 11:30am to 1pm. The sympathy of the community is extended to Theresa and Peter Bedard and family on the passing of Theresa's sis- ter, Marie. Zone Commander Bob Grey and his Deputy Shirley Chalmbers attended the Hensall Legion October meeting for their annual visit, their reports were all very favorable but they feel all Branches need to concentrate on recruiting new Legion members. A motion was passed to sponsor a hockey team in the Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament in Blyth. Several members visited Parkwood Hospital on Saturday September 28 and enjoyed the variety show put on for the Vets and distributed bags of toiletries, kleenex, socks etc to the Veterans. The annual Poppy Drive will be held on Monday October 28 at 6:30pm, Legion members assisted by local cadets will can- vas door-to-door. Please leave an outside light on. Remembrance Day church service will be held on Sunday November 10 at Hensall United Church at 10am with the Service at the cenotaph afterward, fol- lowed by refreshments at the Legion. Tickets are now available for the Remembrance Day ban- quet. The guest speaker will be Doug Andrews, Past Zone Commander and World War 2 Veteran. Tickets are $12 per person available from Legion members or at the Branch. Comrade Iva Reid assisted Zone Child Video Chairman James Saint of Wingham in the Child Video Program at Hensall and Zurich Public Schools and St Boniface Catholic School. They completed their project with 143 students of the Kindergarten, Grades 4 and 8 classes.
