Saturday Youth Bowling League - Watch for scores next week. Masters and Eagles tie EXETER — The Exeter Masters took on the White Eagles from Nilestown Friday night in Exeter, coming away with a 3-3 draw. Exeter scored first on a nice solo effort by Rob Peat when he controlled the ball inside the 18-yard line, beat a couple of defenders, and placed the ball to the inside corner. Exeter took a 2-0 lead into the second half when Tony Van Den Heuvel found himself alone in front and scored easily. The White Eagles scored a disputed goal when the ball apparently didn’t cross the line. The Masters continued to play and were rewarded on a hard shot by Peter Hakvoort. With a 3-1 lead and in control of the game, Exeter appeared to be on its way to a victory. But with little more than five minutes to play, the White Eagles scored to make it 3-2. On the next opportunity and playing in extra time, the White Eagles put the ball in off the goal post. As in recent games, Exeter had to settle for the tie. The Masters finish their season on the road tonight (Wednesday) at Cove Road in London. The team, with total team weight of 484, com- peted in the 520 kg cate- gory of the International Federation meet last week. The 15 teams were split into two pools. In the sec- ond pool, the Bluewater team beat clubs from India, South Africa, England, Scotland and split with the U.S. Holland took two ends off. In the semi-finals against South Africa, Bluewater’s 484kg team couldn’t quite match their 518kg team, putting them into the bronze medal rounds against Wales. They were no match for Bluewater, who crushed them in two straight ends. Pulling as a Canada team, Bluewater placed 7th out of 13 countries.
