PAGE 29. 6 members at Legion’s executive meeting By Jo-Ann McDonald The Brussels Legion executive met on Tuesday evening with only six members present. The normal routine business was discussed as well as the weekend’s upcoming events. Over 30 Cadets met Tuesday evening. The Parent Support Group for the Cadets met in the Thursday was the first ni play for blind mixed darts. There were 10 participants. The first-place team was John Harrison and Kaye Smith. In second place were Marlene Little and Norm Dobson. Starting the year off with a skunk were Tracey Tait and Bush Whittard. High start was by Lawrence Machan with 60 points. Rnrtc rtnrt ot V p jp Q0S( $]_ supper of roast beef was enjoyed by a great crowd and this week is sausage and sauerkraut. Lots of comrades were busy on the weekend for the branch. Comrades Marg Bennet! and Leona McDonald had 10 tables of euchre players to organize. The first-place team was Clara Swan and Janet Davies with 75 points. Close behind in second were Neil Hatt and Edna McLellan with 74 points and close again for third place were Bill and Fay Albert with 73 points. Having a bad day were players Ken Engel and Ivan Bennewies scoring only 46 points. The lone hand winners were Louise Bosman with six and Lloyd Appleby with five. Euchre is every two weeks at 1 p.m. Comrades Mabel Glanville and Jo-Ann McDonald were busy thawing fish and organizing the two crews that were off to do fries. Greg Wilson, Murray Lowe and Linda Bird were off to Belgrave to cook for a crowd of around 100 fish lovers. Rick and Jo-Ann McDonald, Jason and LeeAnn Konarski were off to Mitchell to cook for 140 diners. Comrades Harry Smith, John Harrison, Jim Alton and Dale Sauve travelled to Kincardine to participate in zone crib.'There were 20 teams competing and Brussels finished with a ninth-place finish that earned the right to go on to District level play. Comrade President Norm Dobson was off to District Convention in Guelph on Saturday and Sunday.
