Seniors rally
The 31st annual fall rally for Zone
8 of the Ontario Seniors was held in
the Belgrave Community Complex
on Thursday, Oct. 20.
Over 125 members from 12 clubs
were present. This Zone includes
clubs from Belgrave to Arkona.
The meeting opened with the
singing of O Canada with Mrs.
Freda Johnston at the piano.
Keith Tyndall, president from
Clinton welcomed everyone and
invited reeve Doug Layton to speak
to the members. Visitors at the
meeting were Mr. Ken Cunningham
and his wife, who is on the
provincial executive of the Seniors
and he brought greetings.
Cunningham grew up in the
Belgrave area.
Muriel Coultes, president of the
host club also welcomed everyone
to Belgrave. Rev. Cathrine
Campbell addressed the gathering
and said grace. Members of the
Belgrave Club served a hot
smorgasbord dinner after which
several reports were given.
Len Archambault, the Zone 8
field representative reported on the
annual Seniors convention held in
Kingston in August. During the
afternoon each club entertained with
skits, poems, readings and musical
numbers. Many draws were made
for articles donated by the Belgrave
Club.
-The meeting closed with prayer
and the singing of God Save the
Queen.
