PAGE 3 North Huron council briefs Council pays bills at Oct. 14 meeting North Huron council authorized the payment ot the bills and accounts in the total amount of $586,137.03 lor the period ending Oct. 14 at the Monday Oct. 17 council meeting.*** The request from Westcast Industries Inc. to remove the snow from the bridge on the walking trail as recommended by the public works committee was declined. *** An amendment was made on OSIFA application to remove $100,000 allocation to the Wingham water tower and add $100,000 to Catherine Street construction as recommended by the public works committee. the the *** Council endorsed the boundary adjustment proposal between the Township of North Huron and the Municipality of Morris-Turnberry The proposal will be forwarded to county council for the meeting scheduled for Nov. 3. *** The registration of $1,500 for North Huron’s participation in a 2006 Doors Open event will be paid by the township. *** I he water rates lot the Wingham Ward are under review according to the finance treasury report Property tax supplements, wiite offs and manual adjustments liaxe been processed. *** Council agreed to purchase a fax machine for the approximate cost ot $1,000 subject to the provisions ot the municipality’s purchasing and procurement policy. *** The director of public works, Ralph Campbell was authorized to proceed with obtaining engineering plans tor the reconstruction of Catherine Street as recommended by the public works committee. *** Council approved the purchase ot a sanding unit for the White tractor for the Blyth approximate recommended by the Public Works - committee. *** Council authorized the municipal staff to prepare the tender documents for waste collection and recycling as recommended by the public works ward for the cost of $3,300 as Artitude Kindergarten students at Blyth Public School took part in a workshop where they were able to build a spaceship and travel to the moon with a little help from their imaginations. The workshop sponsored by the Foundation for Enriching Education was called Save the Moon. Happy birthday to Bob Scott who will celebrate his 65th birthday on Thursday, Oct. 27 Visiting with Don and Marilyn Craig on Oct. 15 were John and Verna Evans of Sarnia. The Evanses were on their way home from attending Ross and Audrey Johnston’s 50th wedding anniversary in Teeswater. BLYTH UNITED CHURCH Greeting at Blyth United Church on Sunday, Oct. 23 were Barb and Terry Richmond and Diana Campbell. Guest organist was Lynda McGregor. Usher was Lori Brooks. Emily Phillips welcomed everyone to church in the absence of Rev. McGauley. The children gathered at the front and told all the food they liked and all the food they disliked. Some of the foods they liked were apple juice, hamburgers Smarties. The foods they disliked olives, spinach, broccoli and 100 per cent said they didn’t like black licorice. They all said a prayer with Mrs. Phillips saying thank-you for all the food and for those who prepare it. Brett Giousher held the candle which was lit from the candles at the front of the church to take downstairs for Sunday school. The Lectionary scripture readings were from Nehemiah 9: 5, 32. Psalm 107 and Luke 17: 11-19. Mrs. Phillips’ message to the adults was Thank You. She said it is easier to give thanks for a good harvest than it is for a poor one. We don’t always say thank you for a job, until we no longer have a job and become unemployed.
