Agriculture Brussels Livestock report Fed steers sell $1 lower on strong demand Total receipts for Brussels Livestock for the week ending Sept. 30 were 4,015 head of cattle, 809 lambs and goats. On Tuesday the fed steers and heifers sold at prices $1 lower on a strong demand. Choice steers and heifers sold $89 to $95 with sales to $110. Second-cut steers and heifers sold $86 to $88. The cows traded under pressure with barely steady prices. On Thursday the veal sold on a very strong active trade with prices remaining steady to last week’s. The lambs also sold on a strong active trade. On Friday all weights and classes of Stockers sold on a strong active trade. There were 747 steers on offer. Allen and Dorothy Martin, Listowel, consigned one limousin steer weigh­ ing 1,025 lbs. which sold for $110. Seventy-six steers consigned by Don McAlpine, Ailsa Craig, averaged 1,469 lbs. which sold for an average price of $93.57 with his top limousin steer weighing 1,450 lbs. selling for $100. Jim Howatt, Londesborough, consigned two black steers averag­ ing 1,453 lbs. which sold to Highland Packers Ltd. for $97. His overall offering of eighteen steers averaged 1,421 lbs. selling for an average price of $94.32. J. A. McCann and Sons Ltd., Ailsa Craig, consigned forty black steers averaging 1,359 lbs. which sold for an average price of $93.80 with sales to $94.25. Seven steers consigned by Aden Brubacher, Listowel, averaged 1,311 lbs. which sold for an average price of $93.49 with his top two charolais steers averaging 1,288 lbs. selling to Dominion Meat Packers for $97.
