The Citizen, 2005-10-06, Page 17THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2005. PAGE 17. From the Minister’s Study Pastor says use time in the light of eternity By Rev. Dave Wood Huron Chapel Evangelical Missionary Church We waited for it all year and now it is over once again! Plans were made and expectations ran high and you looked forward to it but it too soon passes. No. I'm not talking about the swift passage of time. I am talking about Threshers. Even though I thoroughly enjoyed it, it reminds us again of the swift passing of time. Time does fly by and with so much crowded into our busy schedules it seems to go all the faster. Someone once told me that when you get past the age of 40 the seconds speed up. I would concur that this seems to be the truth of the matter and I wonder if my neighbour, the one whose name I am not supposed to mention has noticed that this is also the case since she turned 40 last month? Time waits for no man, or woman for that matter, and I think what is done with the time we are given needs to be addressed and evaluated in our lives. When I consider what has taken place around the world in these last days, hurricanes and tsunamis to name but a few, I am reminded that the time we have all been given is precious and we need to learn to live our lives in light of eternity. God has prepared a place for all who trust in His Son and Jesus instructed us to live life with Him in mind. where there is no hunger or oppression. Where courtesy and kindness, respect and consideration were the norm and not the exception. The human potential is vast and yet what is required seems to be lacking. We need the Father and in Christ He has provided all that is needed to live life to the fullest. The hard part is to embrace it, to live it and to use the time that we have been given to know the heart of God and align our thinking with His. Jesus said, “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all the rest of these things will be added to you.” This is how Marion Cook lived her life, in the light of eternity. From what 1 knew of her, she used the time she had been given to exemplify a Christ-like character, courtesy and kindness, respect and consideration and made for those whose lives she touched a better place. Use your time in the light of eternity!
