Well the Canada geese at the
Tumbull/Fritz pond are certainly
telling the world that it’s fall.
Manoeuvres are being practised,
Hight plans discussed and generally
a honking good time is being had at
the reunion site.
There’s something rather haunting
as you listen to the geese get ready
to fly south, the call of nature at its
best. They fly over the house in
many formations and numbers with
lots of communication.
What instinct tells them where to
gather? How do they know where
they’re headed? Who gets the lead
pilot job?
Group
The Brussels, Morris and Grey
Diabetic Group met at Huronlea on
Wednesday, Sept. 21 with 12
members and nine guests present.
Co-ordinator, Nelva Scott
welcomed everyone back from
summer holidays with a reading.
Summer Skips Away.
Guest speaker, Janis Vodden
distributed handouts which
members followed as she introduced
them to tai chi for health series and
diabetes. Her group introduced
themselves and spoke about what tai
chi has meant to them before
demonstrating several moves.
Members then were allowed to work
learns tai chi
with the group doing a few simple
moves; from imaging, to breathing,
to walking.
Mrs. Vodden brought along some
general information about tai chi
which was pursued prior to the
meeting and as members took a
break for tea she invited them to her
group which meets in Blyth.
Mrs. Scott presided for the
business portion of the meeting. The
minutes were read and the
treasurer’s report was given. A
motion was made and seconded to
accept the nomination for directors
for the coming year as well as
payment of the honourarium.
Information on the Diabetic
Information Day in Stratford to be
held April 12 was given.
Upcoming meetings were
discussed. Oct. 19 Aryln
Montgomery will be speaking on
heritage scrapbooking. As well Mrs.
Scott will bring a family history of
illness and allergies. On Nov. 15
OPP Sr. Const. Don Shropshall will
be speaking on safe winter
driving.
Cards to some ill members will be
sent.
Meetings for March, April and
May are in the early stages of
planning.
NEWS
Once again it is nice to k now that
a power way beyond us is on duty
for all of the creatures of the
earth.
The beautiful weather of the
weekend had everyone out and
about making trips to the dump,
tidying the gardens, walking in the
bush, sorting things and generally
thinking that fall preparations were
in order.
The United Church auditorium
was the place of celebration on
Saturday as family, neighbours and
friends shared the occasion of 40
years of matrimony with Kathy and
Frank Workman.
Much laughter, chatter and good
food let us communicate the bonds
of friendship we have with this
couple. Son, Craig, with Lisa and
Duncan came from London and
Peter, on holidays back from
Nunavut were the hosts of the

It’s turkey time, so that means
getting the extra groceries in so that
the ones you love will have the extra
little treats that make family
gatherings special.
Get the list out and start checking
the supplies.
Enjoy Thanksgiving weekend and
don’t forget to give thanks for all
your blessings!

Our mistake
In the story “Plant report positive”
in the Sept. 29 issue of The Citizen,
a statement from Huron East mayor
Joe Seili should have said,
“construction is expected to begin
within a year...”
We apologize for the error.
