Many of you will have noticed the
orange Schneiders transport truck
parked at the end of Elizabeth Street
over the past few weeks. Robbie
Laird and Sara Roberts and five-
month-old Emma have purchased
the house on the corner of Elizabeth
and Victoria Streets from Joel
Jenkins.
Baptism
Three-month-old Lucas Bruce
Bergsma was just too sleepy to
appreciate the significance of events
surrounding his baptism at
Londesborough United Church on
Sunday, Sept. 25. However, big
brother Jared was keeping a close
eye on things as he accompanied
Dad and Mom, Grant and Sandy, to
the front. Regular churchgoers were
pleased to have a large number of
Lucas’ relatives in the congregation
that morning to witness the baptism.
John Jewitt and Laura Scott
assisted Rev. Pat Cook with the
sacrament and the laying on of of Israel to respond to God’s
hands. Laura presented the parents goodness by sharing His teachings
with a candle to signify a new with future generations.

Called to Respond was the title for
Rev. Cook’s message. In Philippians
2: 1-13 the apostle Paul encourages
the people of Philippi to recognize
Christ’s humility and goodness and
to follow His example when
responding to the needs of others.
The psalmist in the responsive

her 90th birthday next Sunday, Oct.

Clinton.
Doug and Florence Snell took to
the air for the first lime in their lives
on Sept. 12 for a holiday in Alberta.
Florence’s sister. Jean and her
husband Tom Wade, went along on
the trip as well.
From Calgary, the foursome
rented a car and headed for Banff.
Three days of day tripping had them
enjoying the scenery and visiting the
usual tourist sites - Lake Louise and
the Chateau, Mount Narguay,
Medicine Lake and Lake Maligne.
Another first was a gondola ride up
the mountain.
Leaving Banff, they drove

Rev. Cook suggested that as a true
follower of Christ, one’s response
should be to proclaim, enhance and
support Christ’s teachings by
reaching out to community, by being
an example in daily life.
Christian love is a love that is
unconquered good will, a victory of
good will achieved through Christ.
The response to God’s call is to help
others experience the love He gives
freely.

On Friday, Sept. 16 the students at
Huliett Central Public School duct-

one of the ways they raised money
towards the Terry Fox Run for
cancer research.

the Athabasca River. From their
cabin’s balcony the Snells and
Wades watched white water rafting.
During one night there, a herd of elk
passed through the complex, close
to their cabin.
Florence noted that the weather
was perfect, with frost a couple of
mornings burning off quite quickly.
There was snow in the mountains
however.
An avid sewer and quilter, a
highlight for Florence was visiting a
quilt shop in Canmore that had
