Artists’ work on display at medical centre Visitors to the Seaforth Community Medical Centre will rub shoulders with local works of art while they wait for their medical appointments, thanks to its new Gone Public program. (Heather Crawford photo) Grader pull for United Way returns this Saturday on display for patients to contemplate in a new program launched by Heritage and Cultural Partnership (HCP), an organization that provides support and services to foster growth and prosperity for its members within the arts, culture and heritage communities of Huron County. The Gone Public program brokers a dozen works of art by members in the Goderich Co-op Gallery to the Seaforth Community Hospital Trust, with artwork hung throughout the Seaforth Community Medical Centre. “This program really celebrates the work that our local artists are doing. It takes the artwork out into the community, putting it into places where the public visits on a routine basis. They can appreciate the work, and even purchase pieces that really strike their fancy,” said Heather Boa, co-ordinator. HCP. “Our vision is to see all Huron County artists involved in this program, with their artwork on display in all sorts of public places,” Marion and Lavern Godkin are pleased to announce the upcoming marriage of their daughter, Sharon to Michael Paterson, son of \ Carole and Alexander Paterson of Toronto. Steve Hewitt, local Zehrs store manager has been convinced by deli manager Alex Irvin to resurrect the Grader Pull for the Huron United Way fall campaign. “This has always beer: a great community event with excellent partnerships that provides a terrific source of revenue for the local United Way. said Hewitt. Saturday. Sept. 17 the Zehrs parking lot will once again be host to several team.-, pulling for the United Way seeking the coveted first place. A barbecue, participation from the Antique Grader Club, along with a full-size grader for the pull itself are planned for the event. Complete details will be available soon. Registration forms and rules for the event will be available at Zehrs or by calling the Huron United Way at 524-7900. “It has been a personal goal to see the Grader Pull up and running again,” said Irvin, “and I am really pleased that the Zehrs team feels the same way loo. Now we need the teams to make it happen." “In the past the Grader Pull has raised as much as $19,000 in one day,” said Kimberley Payne, executive director, Huron United Way, “and the renewal of this wonderfully unique event is excellent news for the Huron United Way and its funded agencies. We are delighted that Zehrs has decided to host the event for this fall campaign."
