cussion of which Mr. C. Q. Hodgins,
reeve of Buldulph, John Fox, Luau,
and Mr. Carter, of Grantor', each. took
part. At the afternoon meeting Mr.
John Hannah, of Seaforth, vice-presi-
dent of the Dairymen's Association,
gave an address on dairying. He Said
it would bring relief to many farmers
in staitenen cirenmstances if they would
adopt it. 'Mr. Smith, the President of
the Fruit Growers' Association, gave
instructiye lecture on Fruit growing
dealing in an instructive manner with
the practical side of the question. Pro-
fessor Shaw took up the subject of
cross breeding, going into the- luster-
ieS of breedingeviewed from a practical
stannpoint.He did not favor the cross
ing of two pure breed for, other than.
purely experimental purposes. At the
evening meeting the hall was crowded
to the doors. Quite ununiber of inter-
esting addresses were delivered on oar
lour farm topics. The program was
varied with a concert of niusie, sing-
-ing and recitations and : readings - At
the election of officers, Mr. C. C. Mid -
gins was eleeted,preeident, and Mr. I.
Cobbledick, of Biddulph, vice-, presi-

Mr Frank Turner pailt our town a
flying Visit last week. Mr. Turner pur
poses itttending the High School in
Goderich, where he intends taking out,
a first class certificate. Success, Frank.
A pleasant event occurred at the re-
siclence of Mr Wm. Fulton, of Port
Blake, on Jan. lst, it being the mar-
riage,of his daughter Mary, to Mr W.
B. Fallis, of Grand Bend, at the hour of -
six o'clock p. m.,where a few of the
more intimate friends were there to
witness the ceremony. The knot was
tied by, the Rev. Mr. Carrierre, of this
place. The numerous valuable pres-
ents were a strong proof of the estima-
tion and popularity in which she was
held. We now join Miss Fulton's many
friends in wishing. Mr. and Mrs. Fallis
many yearsof unalloyed happiness and
enjoyment.
A very pleasant occurence took
place on Christmas day, at the resid-
ence of Mr. John Wade, Town Line
Stephen, it being the mariage of his'
third and last daughter, Miss Rachael
Wade,to Mr. Oscar N. Shuart, of Sagin-
aw. The ceremony was performed. by
the Rev. Mr. Carriere, of Grand Bend,
in the presence of a few friends at 4
o'clock p, m. Miss Rhoda Gamble, act-
ing as bridesmaid and Mr. Oscar Wade
as groomsman. Many costly and use-
ful presents were received by the bride.
The evening was spent in singing anct
dancing until the Wee sma hours.
We wish the happy couple all the joys
and comforts this world can afford and
the pleasures of a long and happy wed-
ded life.
Hay Council.
The council met on •Tuesday Dec.
31st. The Reeve and all the members
present. Moved by Mr. A. McEwen
seconded by G. MeEwen that Benjam-
in Surerus be appointed Deputy re-
turning officer, in polling sub -division
No. 5, in place of J. H. Schnell. Resign-
ed. The sum of five dollars was grant-
ed to Mrs. House, on condition that she
emigrated to Michigan, and H. Hey -
rock was instructed to take the matter
in charge. A droller letter from the
Provincial Secretary representing ex-
emptions from Municipal taxation was
laid before the council. After consider
ing some the question proposed therein
the council thought that so far as rural
muncipalities would be affected no
property now exempt should be by less
islation, made snbject to takation.
Moved and carried that the sums of five
and ten dollars be paid the Treasurer
and Collector respectively for extra
work. A communication from R. H.
Collins Barrister, respecting a culvert
on Zurich road, was road and consider-
ed and the clerk was instructed to no-
tify the parties interested to meet the
clerk and the Council at the locality
on Wednesday Jan. Sth, to settle if
possible the dispute in question. The
