UNITED CHURCH
Greeting at Blyth United Church
on Sunday, May 22 were Judy
Gleave and Myrtle Badley. Ushers
were Judy and Chris Gleave, Terry
Richmond and Earl Fyfe. The guest
organist was Lynda McGregor. Avon
Corneil and Cheryl Cronin favoured
the congregation with a duet In My
Heart there Rings a Melody.
Rev. Eugen Bannerman told the
children the story of Sarah, a three-
year-old who planted a garden of her
own and how she waited on the
seeds to grow. She waited and
waited but a three-year-old doesn’t
have the patience to wail and after a
few days and nothing was happening
she dug up the seeds to see what had
gone wrong. She and her mother
replanted the flower garden and
mother explained to her again that
they would have to wait until God
made the flowers grow.
The Lectionary reading was from
Genesis 2: 8-17. The responsive
Psalm was led by Ollie Craig.
Rev. Bannerman’s message to the
adults was Garden Spirituality. He
explained what gardens teach people
about God and life. One of the great
stories in the Bible is how God
planted a garden between the rivers,
then created humans so they could
enjoy the paradise He had created.
George Bernard Shaw once said that
the garden is the best place to find
God.
The Bible teaches the garden is a
place to learn the human nature
connections.
Rev. Bannerman said he and his
wife bought a Hat of leftover mini
daisies. He took them home and
transplanted and watered them then
that evening went out to sec if they
had survived and found them all
closed up. The next morning he went
back to sec them and found that the
sunshine had opened them up again
and they were so brilliant in colours,

Mould at Hall
not the worst
council learns
By Bonnie Gropp
Citizen editor
After an investigation into the
mould problem at Memorial Hail,
clerk-administrator John Stewart
was able to deliver some good news
to council at Monday night’s
meeting.
“While there is mould, it is the
least harmful of any type of mould.
We will not have to close the
building over the summer.”
However, they are looking at
ways to cover the mould. Stewart
said Dan Cousins, recreation and
facilities director would be bringing
the matter up at a committee
meeting.
It is expected that they will be
using some type of covering with a
plastic shield as a temporary
solution.
