Agriculture Brussels Livestock report Choice steers, heifers sell $88 to 893 Total receipts for Brussels Livestock for the week ending May 13 were 2,687 head of cattle, 795 lambs and goats. On Tuesday the fed steers and heifers sold on a strong active trade with prices $l higher. Choice steers and heifers sold $88 to $93 with sales to $ 111. Second-cut steers and heifers sold $83 to $87. The cows sold at prices $2 to $3 higher. On Thursday the veal sold on a strong active trade at prices $2 to $5 high­ er. The lambs sold actively with steady prices. On Friday all weights and classes of Stockers sold on a strong active trade with prices steady to last week. There were 441 steers on offer. Bill Klages, Desboro, consigned one limousin steer weighing 1,415 lbs. which sold for $100.25. His overall offering of twenty-two steers averaged 1,380 lbs. selling for an average price of $92.20. Two steers consigned by Elwood Donald, Mount Forest, averaged 1.305 lbs. selling for an average price of $97.12 with his top blonde steer weighing 1,135 lbs. selling for $98.25. Jayme Reid, Tiverton, con­ signed four limousin steers averag­ ing 1,515 lbs. which sold for $94.75. David Bowles, Brussels, consigned four limousin steers averaging 1.516 lbs. which sold for $94.25. One red steer consigned by Robert Trick, Londesborough, weighed 1,245 lbs. which sold for $94. David S. M. Sherk, St. Clements, consigned eight charolais steers averaging 1,456 lbs. which sold for $95.75. His overall offering of seventeen steers averaged 1,434 lbs. selling for an average price of $92.24. McKee Cattleland, Belwood, consigned one simmental cow weighing 1,215 lbs. which sold for $42. Their overall offering of four beef cows averaged 1.359 lbs. selling for an average price of $39.24. Four holstein cows con­ signed by Eckerlea Acres, Seaforth, averaged 1,418 lbs. which sold for an average price of $27.47 with sales to $39.50. Ron Pullman, Centralia, consigned two beef cows averaged 1.443 lbs. which sold for an average price of $34.10 with his top limousin cow weighing 1,390 lbs. selling for $38.50. There were eight bulls on offer selling $23.50 to $37 with-sales to $47.50. Gerald Thomas, Paisley, consigned one charolais bull weigh­ ing 2,105 lbs. which sold to Dominion Meat Packers for $37. One hereford bull consigned by Ray Hooper, Orangeville, weighed 1,840 lbs. which sold for $30. There were 154 head of veal on offer. Beef sold $95 to $110 with sales to $120; good holstein, $78 to $85 with sales to $97; medium hol­ stein, $65 to $75. Henry M. Martin, Teeswater, consigned one red veal steer weighing 700 lbs. which sold for $120. One limousin veal heifer consigned by John Martin, Lucknow, weighed 690 lbs. which sold for $117. Last Friday evening Marion Smith hosted a special birthday party for Ethel euchre results Harv Smith’s 80th with many friends from the area attending. Area men and their families from the Brussels St. John’s Masonic Lodge #284 attended the North Huron District Service with re-dedi- cation of the cornerstone on Sunday, May 15 at the Trinity Anglican Church in Blyth. A reception fol­ lowed at the arena. Many area residents attended the United Church garden party on Sunday at the Brussels auditorium enjoying a delicious meal. Leslie and Yvonne Knight spent the weekend with Rick, Naomi. Will and Andrew Knight. They attended the supper at their church in Richmond Hill on Sunday evening.
