Brussels U-9s play to tie

The Brussels Kiddie Kickers go
together for the first meeting of the
2005 season on May. 11.
The U-5 Teams I and II braved the
damp and windy weather for their
big debut.
Scoring in this effort were Jessica
Brussels U-7 teams
open season at home
It was a blast.
It was a tight contest as the
Brussels U-7 I and II teams faced off
to open the soccer season. May 10
on the Brussels arena field.
Team I’s Eric VanNes led his team
to victory scoring all the goals in this
3-2 game.

mates in the game in their turns
between the pipes.

Coaching staff say the kids are
looking forward to an exciting
action-packed season.
The U-5s play Wednesday nights
at 7 p.m.
Despite some good passes the
players couldn’t score on Team I’s
netminder Janessa Neill. Finding
the net for Team II in the second half
were Justin Ford and Carlie
Ducharme.
Coaches for Team II report that it
was a great game for all the players.
“Despite the loss, there was great
handling and passing by the whole
team.”
In a game of Brussels against
Brussels in the season opener for the
U-9s how fitting it was to end the
game in a tie.
Team II opened the scoring
midway through the first half on a
goal by Austin Johnston. Team I
would apply pressure to even the
score, but team Il’s goalie Kai
Hiemstra would keep his side in the
lead. Late in the half Wyatt
Ducharme would even things up at
1-1.
With words of encouragement
from both coaching staffs and a few
minor changes, the second half
would be even more exciting than
the first. Early on Mitch Kellington
Lightning U-11
plays Lucknow
Blyth Lightning U-ll hosted their
first soccer game of the season, at
Sparling Field 1, on Tuesday, May
10.
The co-ed players are 10 and 11
years old. Defensive player, Lucas
Frawley was game captain.
The Lightning’s opponents were
Lucknow II.
Lucknow was keen to play soccer
and scored the first two goals of the
game. Midway through the first half
of the game Marijke Oudshoorn
made a quick pass to Nick Brandon
on Blyth’s first goal of the night.
Soon after a Lucknow player
made ah error with a handball in the
goal crease. This gave Blyth an
opportunity to tie up the score.
U-7 Teams III, IV
square off in opener
On Tuesday, May 10 the Brussels
U7 soccer schedule got underway.
Team IVs first game was against
Team III.
In a tightly-contested affair, team
IV opened up the scoring with a goal
from Greg Ward. Malt Clarke would
make it 2-0. Late in the first half,
Delayna Smith would give Team IV
a 3-0 lead.
In the second half Team IV would
add two more goals, from G. Ward
and Clarke.
Team III battled back and made a
late charge by scoring three
unanswered goals to finish the game
at 5 3.
Last weekend, Bob invited his friends

Waechter and Mackenzie McGavin.
Coaches are Mike Cronin and
Halfback, Murray Dale took the
penalty shot and scored the tying
goal with a hard kick to the corner
of the net.
The Lightning was on a roll. Marc
Dery scored a goal for Blyth
assisted by Oudshoorn.
Both teams played a strong
defensive second half and no goals
were scored.
Goalkeeper Leendert VanDorp,
made several great saves throughout
the game. The game ended with a 3-
2 win for Blyth.
