Community extends sympathy
The community extends sympathy
to the family of the late Lorraine
(Keffer) Secrett who passed away
this past week. She grew up in the
area, lived in Listowel, and owned
the Listowel Dry Cleaners. She will
be missed.
It was reported that the
community gave $1,809.50 when
the area was canvassed for the

Cancer Society during the month of
April. We thank the following
people who did the canvassing:

Lloyd and Beryl Smith hosted the
Cranbrook card party on Friday
evening with Edna McLellan and
Neil Hatt. Share-the-wealth winners
were John Subject and Edna
McLellan. Viola Adams won the
travelling lone-hand prize, the high
score for ladies went to Marlene
Johnston and to John Subject for the
men.
Those not-so-lucky were Velma
Sleightholm and Bill Craig. Mary
Davidson and Myrna Burnett had the
most lone hands.

Grey Central School reports that
they are again opening their
Environmental Learning Grounds to
local schools for hands-on outdoor
learning experiences. Mailland
Valley Conservation Authority
leadership of these programs insures
a high quality of instruction.
People from the area are invited to
the official opening of their river
observation dock at Grey Central
School on Saturday. June 11 from 11
a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The ribbon-cutting
ceremony will take place at 1 p.m.
They ask that you bring the whole
family for ground tours, barbecued
lunch, games and other activities.
They will be officially thanking
for the hard work and donations of
the many people and businesses in
the community who made the dock
possible.
This will be coupled with their
Family FunFest 2005.
Congratulations to Harvey Smith
who will be celebrating his 80th
birthday on Friday, May 13. Last
weekend his children,
grandchildren. and great-
granddaughter were all home to
mark Mother’s Day with Marion
and to wish Harv all the best. Many
family members could be seen
touring the new home under
construction for David and Karen
Smith as well.
John Bentley was bowling at the
Molesworth Lanes on Saturday to
raise money to support breast cancer
with many area people sponsoring
him in this worthwhile project.
On Friday many area residents
attended the Huronlea lasagna
luncheon to help the auxiliary raise
money to purchase a sanitizer for the
home. Many plants changed hands
and delicious baking was sold
too.
Saturday two auction sales of
interest (Keffer’s and Murray
Hoover’s) took place with
neighbours going from one to the
other.
David and Karen Smith are
beginning another season of golf,
starting with their ladies night out at
River’s Edge Golf Course on Friday,
May 13 weather permitting. All
ladies from the area are welcome
every Friday evening.

Investigation
continues
Huron OPP officers continue to
investigate the murder of Ronald
Roy Sullivan. 42, of London who
was reported missing to London
Police Service in October 2004.
On Tuesday, April 26, a search of
a bushlot off of Park Road in the
Usborne Ward of South Huron
located the human remains of
Ronald Roy Sullivan. Charged with
first-degree murder were Ronald
Douglas Kirk, 25, of Admiral Drive,
London and Donald Wayne Earhart,
30, of no fixed address.
Earhart, attended Goderich
Provincial Court on May 4 and was
remanded in custody until his next
court appearance on June 13 at 10
a.m.
Kirk will attend court in Goderich
on May 11 at 10 a.m.
