THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, APRIL 7, 2005. 4th edition of IMAGO at CHSS April 22-23 The fourth edition of the IMAGO Student Film Festival is reaping the benefits of seeds sown in years gone by. A number of graduates of the Digital Media Studies Program (DMS) at Central Huron Secondary School (CHSS) in Clinton and participants in past IMAGO Festivals are now enjoying successful careers in Canada’s film industry Recognizing their roots, a number of these industry professionals are returning to the scene of the action to help today’s talented high school students learn from their experience. This year’s IMAGO Student Film Festival, being held April 22-23 at CHSS will also feature Michael 'Nug' Nahrgang as its keynote special guest. ‘Nug’ has made numerous television appearances on The Comedy Network’s The Gavin Crawford Show and Toronto's The Toronto Show. He has been in several motion pictures, including The Tuxedo, starring Jackie Chan, and the Canadian comedy Men with Brooms. Nug’s mug can be seen in a recent VISA commercial as the sympathetic car impound man. Nahrgang is a graduate of CHSS and is excited to come back and take part in this event. Several current media and film industry professionals (based in Toronto, Montreal and London), who have either graduated from the DMS course at CHSS or been previous participants in IMAGO, are heading to Clinton for the two-day event to share their career experience with the students. Their areas of expertise include post-production colour correction and sound design, videography, special effects and makeup, set design, dressing and construction, as well as the world of freelance filmmaking. During the two-day event, all IMAGO 2005 participants will be working alongside these experienced professionals, using industry standard equipment and practices, to create two professional quality television commercials. The IMAGO Student Film Festival was launched in April 2002 as a non-competitive event designed to showcase the creative efforts of today's high school student The Brubachers of Ethel || Ffte&tautant and fBaketg. (Bonnie Gropp photo) OPP offers youth opportunity The Ontario Provincial Police is once again offering an exciting opportunity to the youth of the Western Region for summer employment. PEACE is a cultural and ethnic diversity program giving youth the opportunity to work in the policing field for a seven-week period during the summer. Successful candidates will work directly with road officers within their area. They will experience aspects of daily policing, court proceedings, assist with cruiser maintenance, marine patrols and much more. The area of coverage for the Western Region is from Windsor to Sarnia to Tobermory to Guelph to Cayuga. To apply, applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 22 and process a valid Ontario Driver’s licence. The age requirement is flexible depending on varying factors. Applicants must have no criminal record. PEACE provides a greater understanding of the true nature of police work, thereby assisting them to make an informed decision about policing as a career. It will also help to improve partnerships and enhance understanding of the diversity of cultures within communities. Funding for this program comes from the community and band councils. Applicants are encouraged to contact their local OPP at 519- 652-4156 for further information.
