The community of Auburn bid farewell to long-time community residents and leaders Bill and Maxine Seers. A farewell tea was held at the Community Hall. Sunday, attended by a large gathering. The Seerses are moving to Goderich. For many years they owned and operated the local restaurant and gas bar. They have been active in many community organizations including Horticultural Society. Thresher's Association, the 2004 Homecoming celebration, car clubs and church Their many efforts on behalf of their community earned them recognition as Citizen of the Year tor Blyth and area in 1992. At the tea was a meet and greet followed by a special reading. The couple also received a bird bath as a token of remembrance from their community and friends. Money from the 150th committee was given to the WI for the kitchen. A motion passed to buy a refrigerator and microwave. The annual meeting dinner will be April 21 at Stickers Restaurant at 12:30 p.m. Dues are to be paid at the meeting. The quilt show is Sept. 16. 17, 18 in Toronto. Laura Mae Chamney, convenor of the Tweedsmuir history, gave a report of the activities of 2004 to be included. Irma Cartwright introduced Daryl Ball, a representative from the Auburn 150th committee. He said that money had been set aside for the hall, as the hall holds the community together. He asked if money .was no object what would be some suggestions. Many things were listed and voted on by the members using blue stickers to show their choices. He will be contacting other groups and priorities will be discussed.
