Kay Roberts was leader. Mary Hunter led the worship service, Do Not Judge Yourself By Others. Pat Hunking led the Bible study. Mrs. Roberts told about Allison’s adventure in Africa. She worked with the Africans and did some travelling while there. The Belgrave United Church choir held its annual social on March 14. Irene Lamont was presented with a framed colour photo of the choir in honour of her 40 years in the choir. Rev. Ethel Miner Clare thanked the choir for their support and closed the meeting with prayer. Cake and ice cream were served. Recently, Bob and Ruth Gordon attended a hockey tournament in Plattsville where their son, Robert is a coach and grandson, Robbie, played. Walter Gretzky, whose grandson also was a player, had lunch with the players and coaches while chatting and telling them stories. Ruth had her picture taken with Walter. The players and coaches, as well as some grandparents, had an exciting day. WI meets for potluck at noon The final WI noon potluck lunch was held on March 15 with 35 in attendance. The program convenor, Jean Nethery, introduced Elly Van Bergen who entertained with humorous stories. Mrs. Nethery thanked her with a gift. The business meeting began with the president, Kay Roberts, reading Everything You Need to Know You Can Learn from Noah’s Ark. The roll call was answered by eight members. The minutes of the previous meeting and the financial statement were given by Doreen Marks. The WI workshops will be held at the Auburn hall on Maich 21 and March 29 and 30. On Monday, April 4 there will be an executive meeting at the Belgrave hall to plan the District annual meeting. Mary Hunter and Doreen Marks will take the safe food handling course in Clinton. The surplus wooden chairs at the hall will be sold. The District president, Mabel Jacklin was in attendance to bring members up to date on Institute events. The next meeting April 19 will begin with a potluck meal at 6:30 p.m., followed by the students of East Wawanesh Public School giving their winning speeches. The annual meeting of the WI and installation of officers for 2005-06 will follow.
